Rush now says Fox 'over-medicated' himself so folks would hate Repukes
http://mediamatters.org/items/200610270019

But I was wrong. He did take his medications, and now, he took too much medication. The point is, he did something differently to appear in this ad than when he appears on Boston Legal. And that was my first human reaction -- "Whoa! I've never seen this! I have not seen this before." Now, I gather from the past three days that we are to believe that this is the normal condition that poor Mr. Fox has to live with each and every day. That's the impression that they're leaving, is it not? That this is how his life is now.

But he himself said he took too much medication. He didn't do that when he goes on Boston Legal, but it happened for the taping of this ad; and I think the reason for that is so you would really, really hate Republicans, because Republicans don't want to cure it. Jim Talent doesn't care; Michael Steele doesn't care; nobody in the Republican Party cares. They don't want to cure these things. They're happy, in fact, to see people suffer like Mr. Fox is in his ad.

______________________________

Rush, perhaps the best thing for you to do about the whole Fox thing is to just shut your damn yapper. Seriously, this whole Fox ad would have been a non-issue if you just hadn't even discussed it in the first place. But just like your denouncement of my beloved Donavan McNabb, you make your dumb comment and then the person at the base of your attack comes back even stronger than ever. Hell McNabb was sucking the beginning of that season until you made the 'Black QB' comment and then he took us to the Super Bowl (yeah, I know we lost).

But anyhow Rush - I just want to thank you for making the whole Michael J. Fox a national issue. Fox didn't make the average folk hate republicans - you did. The fact that you commented on it and you decided you knew what the symptons are for Parkison and the affects of taking/not taking the medicines would do, we now have major backlash against the republicans.

1. Now, now. Send Rush a nice Thank You card.
He's kept stem cells and Republican heartlessness front and center for multiple news cycles.

Express your gratitude.

2. Someone whose intentional over-medication led to an arrest
for doctor shopping has a lot of gall accusing someone with an incurable illness of over-medication.

5. Yeah, not taking meds for Rush was a good thing to do...

so we couldn't raz on him for that. However over medicating himself was bad thing. And you know most people are going to talk about that instead of Fox.

If this weren't good for us, I'd tell the dumb son of a bitch to shut up about this already. But oh no, I am loving every minute of this because it shows how Republicans are unwilling to admit when they are wrong and it also shows their coldness. Instead of caring about Michael J. Fox's feelings Rush is trying to save his own skin. Typical Republican coward.

3. Rush Slips Up and Speaks Truth!
"...because Republicans don't want to cure it. Jim Talent doesn't care; Michael Steele doesn't care; nobody in the Republican Party cares. They don't want to cure these things. They're happy, in fact, to see people suffer like Mr. Fox is in his ad."

Oh, boy, he's in trouble with his masters now! He confesses that the Republican Party likes to see people suffer! We didn't say it, we're not quoting out of context (much), he said it. Run with it.

17. That's a scary thought
I know there are those of us progressives out there who feel they should listen to Rush for the "Know Thy Enemy" philosphy but personally I'm thinking the bulk of his listeners are buying into it

15. I got some news for RUSH. . .people started hating Repukes
when they started using our own government to trample upon the sanctity of the Schaivo marriage. . .and then turned around and started funneling money to the looniest televangelista cabal of barnyard flea circus charlatans this country has ever seen. And then they hated Repukes even more when the wingnuts pretended that the reason we can't help the victims of a hurricane is because the residents were too "lazy" to walk 200 miles out of the path of the storm. And then we hated them even more when they stupidly tried to trump up lies about Medicare and Social Security, and then created such a bureaucratic nightmare that our own elderly pray they don't get a prescription from the doctor. And then they supported the nutcase "pharmacists" seeking publicity because their own chosen "religious" belief means that OTHERS can't consume prescriptions ordered by their doctor. And then the public hated them even more when they bragged about tax cuts for the top few percent while running our national debt into the hole in Iraq. And then they raged about moral values and how two people of the same sex can't get "married" and can't be allowed benefits like making health decisions for each other because the Republicans apparently feared it would interfere with their perverted game of preying on House pages, accepting donations from gay porn moguls, and make their apparent man-on-dog or man-on-box turtle sexual fantasies seem even more perverted. . . .and then. . ..well, I could go on....

but when asked to appear on "This Week," he didn't have the guts to look into Michael J. Fox's face and say the same things.

19. Well now,
intentional over-medication is a subject that this dumb-downer par-excellence may well know something about.

But again, since over-medication could increase Mr Fox's symptoms and decrease his functionality, it's rather unlikely that he'd deliberately over-medicate (unlike some).

And getting the "dose" right -- complicated by a body's increasing resistance to a drug's effects -- are subjects that the pig-boy may well have some familiarity with.

However, I suppose that some people have little enough understanding of these things, so to summarize:

Mr Fox deals every day with a chronic, debilitating condition -- a condition that could reduce him to a level of functionality that few (if any) people would desire. And for relief from his symptoms (and hopefully to slow the progression of his illness), Mr Fox takes medication. And this poses something of a dilemma. Because if he takes too little, his symptoms would be worse than they might have been (at least; and who wishes this?); but if he takes too much, then his symptoms could also get worse (although not necessarily in the same way) -- and over-medication could cause drug-resistance to increase (ie, sooner anyway).

Now, I'm no expert in matters medical, but I know (have good evidence to hold to be true) in general that certain types of symptomatic episodes can lead to further (and worse) symptoms. For example, the muscle racked by spasms can become tense, sore, and predisposed to more spasms. So the sufferer tries to avoid the worst of his (possible) symptoms, since these not only cause him to suffer more -- but they can cause his physical condition to become worse.

And I also know that things mental can play an important role in battling illness. One's mental state, perspective, etc, influence one's perception of his condition (potentially making him feel much worse, if not much better) -- and can influence that condition (eg, the person who gives up fighting for life will often be the sooner to die). In any event, one must face a grave illness (life generally) with tranquility and resolve (courage, discipline, self-control and patience). For this is the way of the warrior (the one who would be effective in the world -- and in command and control of him-or-her-self), the way of the blade: serene, strong, flexible, and powerful -- in the face of whatever challenge.

Now, I can't say what pig-boy understands of Mr Fox's condition (in particular or general -- I suspect very little), but an ignorant pig is an ignorant pig (of course, one makes such a judgement based on the acts (taken broadly) of the subject), even if he doesn't recognize that he is. And, moreover, what can one expect from someone who behaves like a ignorant pig for a living (he certainly has a "talent" for it -- and so one suspects that this is central to his character -- I'll give him that), except for uninformed, thoughtless, heedless, etc, piggishness in some form or the other.

21. And Rushbo of course cherry picks Fox's interview with Couric, as Media Matters noted..
Another excerpt from the transcript:

KC: Would you support a Republican candidate?

MF: I have. Arlen Specter is my guy. I've campaigned for Arlen specter. He's been a fantastic champion of stem cell research. I've spoken alongside Mike Castle, who's a Republican Congressman. Absolutely. This is not about red states and blue states. This is not about Democrats and Republicans. This is about claiming our place as the scientific leader in scientific research and moving forward and helping our citizens. That’s all it. It’s that simple.
