Kerry Gaffe was a PURE GIFT ....
Edited on Tue Oct-31-06 04:51 PM by Sensitivity
TO THE NATION!

However Kerry's words are interpreted or miss-interpreted, a valid and important
point is made that will help energize the base and move the middle:

The Puke interpretation "Military for the Uneducated":
"Don't focus on your education and you will get trapped into Military Service."

Points out the fact that the stupid Iraq War has driven
volunteering down, down, down; Rumsfeld is lowering
academic and moral admissions standard; recruiters are engaged in con-jobs
to trap high-school and college drop-outs into signing-up.

The Kerry interpretation "Botched joke about Bush's habit of not studying":

"If you don't get into habit of serious study,
if you don't do you homework, you could end-up
doing something really dangerous, like declare war on a country
without reason or understanding about what you are getting into."

Points out that the Republican congress is lead by a dolt
who thought he could be the "decider" without studying the
issues or understanding the world in which we live.

Either way, Kerry returns the focus
to the Iraq War.

That's the last thing Congressional Republicans
want to talk about. Watch them squirm to
avoid commenting on Kerry's statement!

5. Bush has scheduled a press conference this afternoon
to condemn Kerry's remark. So, it would seem they aren't avoiding it.

I don't know, this could be touchy. People know that the reasons for being in Iraq right now aren't exactly clear. Could be more attention on Iraq than the GOP would like. The Iraq war is very unpopular.

about Iraq the better. Even when they don't defend Kerry, they can say as Carville did that Kerry mangled a joke - Bush mangled a war , because as Kerry said he didn't do his homework before it. (Carville also pointed out Kerry's military record and his 20 years of being a very good friend to veterans in the Senate. )

The point is to focus it on the war was badly planned and a mess.

9. Tough.
Both versions of Kerry's comments -- the intended and the actual -- are completely true.

Anyone who has a problem with that is an idiot and can just STFU.

7. There is a BIG difference between:
1) Associating Bush* with his failed war, which happens every day in the news; and

2) Associating Kerry with the failed war, with the suggestion that he is disrespecting the troops (plays into 'disrespecting troops in Viet Nam days)

(Ya need to know I'm an old time Vietnam protester and marched against that fiasco. However, during election time, we don't need to alienate the undecided dolts who might not like Kerry much but are fed up with Bush* and want to send him a message by voting dem)

16. I think the misinterpretation is helping more than the joke.
This evening parents will be huddled around the dining room table with the kiddies, saying..."see, we told you so.... now, go do your homework."

I shit you not folks, I am in rural Ohio. We actually tell our kids this.

The republican spun this one in our favor.

23. I completely agree.
The RW seriously miscalculated this time. The Swift Boaters demonized Kerry back in 2004 and Kerry did not fight back then. They projected their faux outrage while questioned Kerry's military service to keep from having to debate the real issue, Iraq. They have no concept of learning from their mistakes because they refuse to admit them, like Kerry has. I'm sure they thought Kerry would again remain silent while being swift-boated instead of speaking out. They actually thought this shit would fly two years and almost 3,000 troops later. Silly, stupid repugs.

25. "bush's habit of NOT STUDYING" - that is a gem. Bring on the noise machine so
this can be discussed 24/7. There's plenty of material from bush's pretzeldential record.

...habit of not studying ... every person can relate to that phrase and recall a time they didn't study and the kind of hell they encountered as a result. Expanding that to the level of a president is frightening.
