So, they're saying Kerry (and Democrats) are "undermining the troops"? |
|
When you listen to the entire context of Senator Kerry's comments—and not just the nine second soundbite—it is clear he was talking about W.
Everyone knows that. But it's a good opportunity for Republicans to spin the comment and hope to have some effect on next week's elections.
What's sad is that while some people try to make this issue about one Senator's comments, the real issue of the failed policy in Iraq and the thousands of Americans who died there (and will die there as long as we "stay the course") could be ignored. And that's due to a deliberate effort on the part of the Republicans to cloud the debate.
If anything is "undermining" the troops, it's the way certain comments are spun to make them sound as though they are bashing the troops. Those who are doing the spinning are making something out of nothing, and all for political gain, seven days before an election.
They are, quite simply, demoralizing the troops to fulfill a political agenda.

2. No need to focus on the words. |

It's simple. Bush says the Democrats have no plan to win and he does. The problem is, no one can understand what the HELL Bush's plan involves, aside from simply staying the course and getting nickel and dimed to going on 3000 US deaths (however you slice it). This midterm is a referendum on Bush; Kerry is supremely unimportant. No one cares what Kerry said. People care an awful lot about what Bush is saying, and the vapid lack of meaning in his words, because Bush's lack of a meaningful plan matters, because Bush won in '04, not Kerry.
And we're paying the price.
