ELKO — Residents eager to make plans to see President George Bush when he visits the city Thursday to stump for Republican candidates will have to be patient.
White House spokesman Peter Watkins advised the Free Press today that specifics of the president’s visit won’t be provided until later.
“Details for the visit are still being planned,” Watkins said. “From the White House’s perspective, details are still being planned and we will get them out as soon as possible.”
However, because Bush will be in Billings, Mont., Thursday morning it is likely the president will arrive in Elko late Thursday afternoon.
Watkins said the information is not being released both for security reasons and because it is still being finalized.
Nancy Ernaut, vice chairman of the Elko County Republican Central Committee, said the location for the rally cannot be announced yet, but will not be the convention center because there is early voting under way at that venue.
