"Members of the United States military are plenty smart" |
|
Is it just me or does that sound degrading somehow? I can't put my finger on it ... but it just doesn't sound right. I don't know ... maybe because it sounds like something a five year old would say.

It's the sort of thing one says about their developmentally disabled cousin.

I don't know why either. That just kind of sounds weird. Beyond that, I must disagree to an extent. Anyone who joined with knowledge that they will likely go to Iraq needs his or her head examined. And more generally, I must question the reasoning of anyone who thinks that violence is somehow going to solve problems. It just doesn't make any sense.

8. The buck and the brains stop somewhere else... |
|
Here are some other implications of the bushist/rovian deflection...
The pretzeldent isn't stupid or poorly educated, therefore Kerry must be talking about the troops...
In other words, he is either cynically pretending he doesn't understand the import of Kerry's criticism and deliberately besmirching the troops himself. Alternatively, he is so stupid and egotistical that he thinks he can't be talking about me, he must be talking about the military.
Here's another dim thought coursing through his drug addled brain, "I'm not stuck in Iraq, the troops are!"

10. My take on it is that he's not only insincere, |
|
as usual, but that he actually thought that Kerry was trashing the intelligence of troops...because BUSH thinks they're stupid and believes that a lot of other people think that too.

11. Yes, GWB is the one saying the troops are just a little bit |
|
shy of a full load. He should be the outrage. I tried to bring it up earlier, but hit a nerve. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=2531741&mesg_id=2531741You are right, it just isn't quite right. I think he is saying they are smart enough for his use, smart enough.
