I think I've figured out why you American Dems keep losing |
|
watching you fall apart over some Kerry comments is quite startling.
You're afraid of offending the American public under the terms that your opponents set before you.

3. Kerry did right by refusing to apologize to Bush. |
|
And his in-your-face attitude was perfect. I heard the original clip and I understood exactly what he meant.

4. we hae allowed the extreme demon rong wing |
|
to define us - that is true - but the other part is the rong wing controlled corporate media will report whatever it sees fit. Why report the facts when a fabricated story will raise the ratings. The left, which is now the extreme left since the radical religious rong moved the middle to the far right, controls very little of the media. We only have a very precious few people out there trying to expose this Korrupt Korps of Kronies.

6. Yes. But hey, Kim Jong Ill just saved the dems from themselves |
|
Turns out talks are linked to removing sanctions. Can't say I'm surprised, but if there's a silver lining it pushes this Dem hand wringing off the tube.

9. That's true but they don't lose. They win and don't get seated. |
|
There is a difference, and that is the voters would rather have Democrats in office who seem tentative at times instead of the thugs they have now.

10. You get used to the Neville-Chamberlin-esque nature of DUers' thought.... |
|
... they do it with everything - religion, racism, fighting for Democrats, adherence to principles, torture...
Lotta willingness to compromise with immorality, just for the sake of... whatever the valuable-item-d'jour is, in these parts.
Hell - did ya see the thread(s) over the last day or so blaming gay folks if we didn't do well in the elections? Lotta DUers don't care who they throw under the bus, just so long as they win. Funny thing is: by doing so, they won't have won what they originally claimed to want to win. Geniuses all.

12. Dems have been... a disappointlment |
|
We are scared shitless that taking a stand and saying what we believe will lose us elections and so we equivocate. And we lose elections. We can't be for universal health because we might be portrayed as Socialists. We can't stand for gay rights because the Fundies will paint us as immoral and out of touch with the mainstream. We can't talk about the economy and the deficit because those topics are not sexy. We can't fight the Rethugs in the trenches because we don't want to be seen as lowering ourselves to their level.
We blame our lost elections on fraud, and that's part of it. But a lot of it is our own damn fault. Our politicians won't stand up for what we believe in and yet they expect voters to trust them to run the country. I'm ashamed of the way our party has behaved during the last six years and I'm hard pressed to find a reason to vote for them other than that the Rethugs are obviously so much worse. Being the lesser of two evils isn't all that inspiring to me and I'm on our side. How do we expect to win others over with this kind of shit? I have hope that we can win in November, but if we do it won't be because of us it'll be because of them. If we get the House and don't use it to start putting our country right we deserve whatever we end up becoming.
