Six days out, and we've lost because...
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 03:01 AM by JeffR
:bluebox: Webb wrote some highly-acclaimed novels

:bluebox: Kerry muffed the punchline of a joke he's told a number of times while campaigning for Democrats

:bluebox: Saddam Hussein will be declared - gasp! - guilty

:bluebox: Rove has announced publicly that he has access to "the" numbers, and as we all know, every criminal mastermind trumpets his malfeasance in the press a week before he commits a crime

:bluebox: Values voters, especially - gasp! - Southerners, are so stupid that the Republicans can tell them up is down and they'll believe it

To that, this Southerner says: HORSE SHIT! Focus it up, and stop the chicken-little crap, I beg you all. If there's an elephant - or gorilla - in the room, it's electoral malfeasance. Keep you eyes open, and be prepared to scream bloody murder if these shits try to steal the vote. Otherwise, enjoy the polls and please keep your doomsaying to yourselves. This here's the show; you don't wanna play, please go home and leave the game to those of us who do. And thanks for stopping by.

I was just about to sign off for the night, but it occurred to me I've reached my wit's end, not only with the GOP, but with the manure I've been seeing shoveled here all week.

6. Six days out and.....
Lynne Cheney's book is listed under "lesbian porn" on Amazon.com...

Bush needs to be reminded of the joke he made under his desk as he searched for WMD...

Saddam Schmaddam...

Rove can't even accurately count how many fingers Bush is holding up...

Value Voters are still discussing David Kuo's book "Tempting Faith" and now know they've been screwed for years...

25. LOL... I heard someone over at DU-Politics say that...
.... Big Eddie Schultz made a comment on his radio show today that "I don't recall Bush ever apologizing to anyone who may have offended when he crawled around and under his office desk laughing at a party that "no, I can't find the WMD in here!" .

And strangely, at the same time he was doing that... our troops were dying in Iraq..

Damn, I despise that man so much!!!!!

I - Just - HATE - HIM!

9. K&R'd, summed it up well IMHO
People seem skittish about it all, but I honestly can understand it as the stakes are sky high.

I actually got my seriously fundie bro-in-law to admit that Taft and crew, here in Ohio, are corrupt. And he is voting yes on issue 3 (FOR slot machines, he goes gambling in vegas but his kids cannot trick or treat because he and my sister see it as an evil holiday...go figure).

If we lose this it will be because of fraud, pure and simple.

17. What I know is that the OP was not intended as such
It seems to be more of a common sense 'these aren't the real issues here' - ie, it seems to be poking fun at those who are doom sayers and showing how absurd it all sounds.

IF we were to lose, it would be due to fraud, and not the lame issues people are harping on - ie, I see this thread as the opposite of what you see it.

26. Look, alittlelark
I have absolutely no issue with someone disagreeing with my argument on the merits or lack thereof. At this point in the evening, take my word for it, I've had a few myself.

What I don't get is why someone I apparently have a lot in common with sees fit to accuse me of being essentially a troll, without offering a single on-point response or rebuttal to the OP. Seems to me you and I are on the same side here; if we aren't, then why not have a discussion about the things we disagree on, instead of a slanging match?

Here when you are, should you want to continue talking.

and understood easily, but people are on edge, some drunk over this Kerry fiasco and pissed, frustrated and some hysterical. Kerry's screwup will make no difference and your point that the "issues" bandied about by these desperate Republigoons which you enumerated being trivial, is simply dead-on true.
(I must be drunk too, because I wanted this to be in the main thread)

37. Tensions are high, no doubt
and there's a lot of misinterpretation of motives and comments going on this week. I'm hoping to convince some of the more pessimistic among us that pessimism doesn't serve us well right now, any more than an unthinking excess of optimism would. It seems to be a message that just doesn't resonate with some...

the problem is not that our voices can't be heard, it's that it's almost impossible to find evidence of the fraud because it's happening inside a computer. that doesn't stop us from trying. I was just saying that it's difficult.

44. Sigh 2000...Sign 2005...Sign Hackett 2005...Sigh Ohio Sp. Measures 2006
I want eveybody to go to the polls, every single registered voter.

I want every Democrat, Independent, and Republican to vote for the Democrat.

I'm a Democrat who works a precinct and have done so the last three elections, giving considerable time
and money.

And I have eyes to see and ears to hear. This election system is a rigged game. Failure to protect
against that is rediculous. It's also giving them the score board without any controls.

This post wasn't even about election fraud. It was about people boo hoo-ing over some gaffs at the last minute...and it's exactly correct.

The public is onto ths election fraud game. Look at the polls.

1) 92% of Americans feel that they have the right to watch the vote count and ask serious questions to the elections officials (Zogby). Of course, they can't watch the vote count and they'll find that out. There are no votes, just code. NO BALLOTS to count.

2) 60% have heard that machines can be programed to steal elections and just one machine can do it (Zogby)

3) Only 45% are solid on the proposition that 2004 was "fair and square" and 55% either just "somewhat" believe it was fair and 32% think it was a heist (Zogby).

Those Zogby's which I helped sponsor are covered here:

http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0608/S00220.htm and here http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0609/S00346.htm

Harris or someone had a recent poll, very recent, where a big number think that the elections are going to have a real element of fraud involved.

These are huge changes in public perception.

They are risking the entire facade of a cooked democracy just to stay in power. They will pay.

You're right. This is topic #1 right after GOTV.

And after the election, if short sighted, arrogant Democratic leaders have failed to protect against
more crap, then it's time for them to take a hike.

43. My privilege. You called it: "HORSE SHIT" - the weak at heart should
pursue "scrap booking" or something. This is for all the marbles.

Jim Webb is benefiting from an ex marine, UVA Law Student, blogger who gave his body and got roughed up when he asked Allen a question. That guy is great and guess what, this is the second time Allen has gone after a UVA student. Not a good idea in this state. If Allen wins, it was stolen.

The appropriate response on Kerry (and from his) should have been: "I'll apologize for muffing a joke and offending people when Bush apologizes for killing and maiming all those people by starting a war based on a pack of lies." Little wordy but it will do in a pinch.

They're going to have to do epic level theft to keep the House. Senate, it will be obvious but I think that we've got a chance. I even think Ford has a good chance.
