So this is what it has come down to.
“Work hard or get stuck in Iraq”

Okay.

So this is the best October surprise that Rove could come up with? Taking a single sentence, from a random Democrat out of context, and spinning it as something that is that is not only completely untrue, but absolutely irrelevant and a complete non issue?

The thing is, that this could have been any quote. From any random Democrat’s speech in the last week. I mean, come on. Use a little insight. People at DU have been arguing on the internets for so many years, that there is probably not a single person here that CAN’T take a random sentence from someone they don’t particularly like out of context, and twist it into it’s exact opposite meaning.

And we don’t have the control of mass media, a huge right wing spin machine, and a twenty five million dollar war chest at our disposal. These guys are the biggest baddest bullies in the jungle.

I recognized it as just garden variety propaganda when I first heard it. Propaganda that’s meant to reach into, and touch the only emotions that the neo-cons and their kool-aid drinking followers are capable of; a seething hatred of Democrats so deep that it makes their ears bleed.

The truly sad thing is, that I expect it to work on the Rush-Hannity crowd. After all, it is an affirmation of all that they represent. In the past few months, they have seen the elected officials from their side of the aisle do just about every type of scandalous and disgusting behavior. They need something, ANYTHING told to them so that they do not feel completely like the tools that constantly vote against their best interests that they are. The gamut of republican crimes just in the last six months, ranges from the corruption and complete disregard of the oaths that they were sworn in on, to actual prison time and conviction for felonies committed in office, to the misuse of the high office and power they were entrusted with to satisfy their base animal desires.

So what did they do? They went to the last resort of every scoundrel in history; Patriotism. Jingoistic, flag waving, nationalistic pride. Fill them with a false sense of faux-pride, so that they can puff out their chests, and make believe once again that they are better than every else, because they went to Walmart and bought a little “support the troops” magnet to place on their SUV. Hey, if some of that kool-aid from the past is starting to wear off, waving the flag and hating on a Democrat is the perfect booster shot. Always has been.

What I didn’t expect, was that it would go over so well here on DU. After all, we are supposed to be better than this. We are a group here that is supposed to be able to look beyond the spin, and the White House lies, and the manufactured propaganda. We are the ones who are supposed to be smart enough to know that the media and all the “news” stations are owned by a handful of mega-corporations, who care not one little bit about actually reporting news, and are only loyal to profit, and their bottom lines. We are supposed to know that the golden rule in Dubya's America is “he who has the gold makes the rules.” And we are supposed to know that none of them will absolutely, never, EVER, give any benefit, of any type of doubt, whatsoever when it comes to changing that very status-quo they have so carefully established over the past twenty five years.

Yet, despite all of this going against us for the past six years, the latest poll numbers are astonishing. A broad sweeping range of polls shows a Projected New House of 230 Democrats, 203 Republicans, and 2 Ties

Here is the list of projected Congressional Dem pickups in various districts across the country:
AZ-08
CT-04
CT-05
FL-13
FL-16
IA-02
IL-06
IL-10
IN-02
IN-08
IN-09
KY-03
NC-08
NC-11
NH-02
NM-01
NY-19
NY-20
NY-24
NY-25
NY-29
OH-15
OH-18
PA-06
PA-07
PA-10
TX-22

Focus people. Do not get distracted. That’s all this whole Kerry mess is. A distraction from every Republican crime, scandal, shredding of our constitution, and dead soldier’s blood that these very people have on their hands. The numbers in the last few months prove that the tide is turning across America. They are turning in our favor. We are 7 days and counting. We must not get sucked into the spin and start arguing amongst ourselves. Of any time EVER, this is the one that will truly test our mettle as a party, and show if we can really unify when the chips are down.

Remember, they are the biggest baddest bullies in the jungle. America is standing up to them, and they are doing exactly what bullies do when they are stood up to.

So lets stare them down, and GET OUT THE FUCKING VOTE.

Peace
