Kerry Is A DIVERSION From Laura's Blunder (Kos)
Kerry is a diversion from Laura's blunder
by bornadem
Tue Oct 31, 2006

If some outcry could be raised about Laura's insensitivity and utter meaness the election would be won. In case you missed it, sweet Laura went after Michael J Fox in a pretty mean way today:

Laura Bush on Michael J. Fox: ‘It’s Always Easy To Manipulate People’s Feelings’

Laura is the last popular WH regular. She is who they have to send when the voters can't stand anyone else. (She's been really busy lately). Wihout her, Bush might be polling in the 20's.

And today, she blew it. Badly.

........ the last topic that the GOP wanted to talk about this week was Iraq, but they have to keep the focus off of Laura's remarks, so they are willing to talk Iraq and Kerry in order to avoid explaining how Laura and Rush Limbaugh are reading off he same page.

Please turn it around. Talk up the Laura story all you can. Here's the link with VIDEO and TRANSCRIPT:

1. ITA, Pickles comment about manipulation is what we should
be talking about, not Kerry's blowing a joke, that the people in audience obviously got.

7. Laura isn't the blunder...Hastert's negligence of Foley's molestation
propensity should have been addressed long ago..

Laura is no more than empty rhetoric.

Hastert need to be brought to heel for his obstruction of the LAW!

Hastert's resignation should be shouted from the rooftops by ALL the Dems!

You don't want to beat up on the already beaten or for the ill or handicapped...well at least normal people don't.

3. Laura's intent not clear
According to the quote, you can read a lot into it.

Q: One of the issues that’s come up. Michael J. Fox. The whole issue of stem cell research. Your reaction to the events of the past week.

LAURA BUSH: Well, I don’t have any idea about any of those. I mean, I’ve watch on television just like you have. But the fact is President Bush is the only president that authorized funding for stem cell research. And, um, you know, it’s an issue that it’s easy to try to manipulate people’s feelings about and I understand that. My dad died of Alzheimer’s. You know, there’ s nothing I’d like more than to think there was a cure for Alzheimer’s. Especially before I get to be the age he is, but knowing also how he suffered. It’s always easy to manipulate people’s feelings, especially when you are talking about diseases that are so difficult.

5. Definitively mean. Whether she was speaking of Fox or not does not matter.
She is saying that sick people and their families are not able to understand their own interest as well as the RW is.

8. She is a remarkably stupid woman
The transcript reads like it was spoken by a third grader. She doesn't seem to get that it's probably not easy for someone like Fox to do this sort of thing publicly. The words "brave" and "eloquent" and "empassioned" come to mind but not the word "easy".

10. Good point!
If the media is so eager to parse the words of campaigners who are not themselves candidates, then let's by all means parse what Laura said. So my question about her statement is the following: Who was being manipulative here -- Michael J. Fox, who actually has the disease, or Rush Limbaugh, who mocked someone who actually has the disease?

These people are hateful, mean-spirited, one-way sons of b*tches.

That's what physically challenged people do Laura, manipulate peoples' feelings. :sarcasm:

Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 12:18 AM by vixengrl
people wouldn't feel bad if their noses *weren't* rubbed in the reality of human suffering :sarcasm: .

For some time, I believed the Bushes had a "mixed" marriage, (human/reptile, with Laura being the warm-blooded half) but I'm now convinced--she *belongs*.

Edit: damn if I don't type poorly.
