Don't apologize, John...
This is important. This is a line in the sand. The GOP is manipulating the media in order to promote their spin. Why did the audience laugh after your comments? The media does not show the audience response. Neither do they show the context in which the comments were made. Obviously, you were discussing George Bush and his lack of "education" and his getting us "stuck" in Iraq. This is too important for an apology.

Because it is about the truth and spin and media manipulation at the behest of the Republican Party. It is not just about John Kerry and whether he put his foot in his mouth. It is about whether the Democratic Party is strong enough to stand on a principle - the principle of truth and facts in the face of distortion and spin. Politically speaking, this is a real loser for the Republican Party because it focuses the nation's attention on the disaster in Iraq. I suspect Karl Rove will advise Dubya to drop this immediately, if he is as smart as they say he is?

3. What if it's a non-apology apology
I mean his comments yesterday were very solid, so I don't think he's going to apologize. But if he says something like "I am sorry that my words have been so distorted so as to appear to be an attack on our brave men and women in uniform. Obviously I would never intentionally attack soldiers in this manner, and I'm just sorry if the distortion of my words has hurt anybody."

4. If he then requested that George Bush apologize...
that might work. Otherwise, I'm not sure he should even try to "clarify" his comments. Republicans do not want this out there very long...just watch.

11. I am sorry the media chose to lie and distort my message...
...the only insult intended was directed at an administration that has lied us into war and caused the deaths of 2800 of our troops so far, with no end in sight and Iraq spiraling into civil war.

I wonder when Mr. Bush will apologize for saying that Democrats support terrorism? Is this not a direct insult to fully 50% of the population? And when will Mr. Bush apologize for ending the search for one of our own soldiers, captured in Iraq? Is that how this administration "supports the troops?"

2. Bush, Cheney, Rove et al never apologize for anything
If Kerry did, they'd be the first to jump all over him for it for being weak.

8. Yep. "The way of the wolverine"
Kerry is handling this right. Tell Chimpy it's not the troops that are stupid, it's HIM! Don't go all nuancy on this one John. You've got the media's attention. That's an opportunity you should seize. Attack and don't let them redefine the ground for the argument.

9. I hope he steps up the attacks today
Both barrels blazing! If anyone should apologize it's this administration, the most corrupt in history, for leading us into this hellhole known as Iraq!

5. Apologize? Hell no! Kick it up a notch....Time to escalate
the confrontation and turn the argument from what Kerry said to what Kerry was saying. The repukes have no place to stand on the subject of Iraq, so 'bring it on...'

7. Kerry's intention was certainly clear to me, when I first heard the
...clip on radio this past Monday, I knew immediately that Kerry was referring to Bush and was not talking about the troops who are serving in Iraq. Only some right wing character assassin could twist and distort the meaning of Kerry's talk to these students. It was a "no-brainer"!

12. Consider how Snow blew off the "no brainer" comment
"Come on we all know he wouldn't SAY that he supported torture"

or words to that effect. The press laughed at him in the room but after a day they dropped the whole thing.

Now it is not only a NO BRAINER that Kerry wasn't talking about the troops from actually watching the clip but there is no way he would even come close to doing that at any time let alone a week before the elections.

Oh but not now I see.

One of the first things I noticed was that the crowd noise, which the right tried to frame as "liberal elitists" oh f**k it who cares how they tried to fram it, anyway the crowd noise is cut off but the HUUURAAAH! for Bush is left in. What's really funny is that so far (last night and this morning-the reporting that sticks with people) Kerry actually got the last word as his follow ups were mentioned last.

All in all I say-keep it going. Make it national (it always was) about Bush and Iraq go ahead keep pourly gas on that fire.
