"Democratic Firing Squad!!! ABOUT FACE - FIRE AT THE ENEMY!!!"
Why I would still support Senator Kerry in 08:

The standing in a circle part is right. Just don't face inward.

1. I would enthusiastically support a Gore/Kerry ticket in '08, the Restoration
Ticket. I believe both were elected. Gore first, Kerry second. Gore has eight years of experience in the executive branch; Kerry has none. Gore has also given better speeches--more on point as to the Bush Junta--than Kerry has. But Kerry would make a brilliant V-P--president of the Senate, for one thing (where he has many years of experience), and guider of Senate investigations. Gore, having been V-P--and being the man he is--will also use Kerry well as V-P. The brilliance and commitment to public service of both of these men will be badly needed to repair the immense damage that the Bush Junta has inflicted on our country. We will need TWO presidents, and we will HAVE two presidents, in effect.

The American people elected them. So I would put aside my differences with them (Gore, mostly NAFTA; Kerry, the war, and the early concession, hanging his supporters out to dry), and strongly support this ticket, in order to restore order and rightful government in the U.S. I think restoring order and rightful government is more important than any particular policy. Our democracy will right itself, and start creating better policy, if the people who were elected, and who represent the majority, gain their rightful place as the leaders of our government.

I think there is widespread consciousness now in the general public that the American people were robbed of their choices for leader of the country--more consciousness re: Gore, less re Kerry but it's growing (with the realization that the electronic voting machines, hastily installed in the 2002-2004 period, are highly riggable, and run on "trade secret" code, owned and controlled by Bushite corporations). The election theft against Kerry was a severe blow to democracy in the U.S. The amazing grass roots democracy movement that grew up around his campaign (initially inspired by Howard Dean)--a movement that blew the Bushites away in new voter registration in 2004, nearly 60/40--was given a severe blow by that election theft, and is only just recovering, as people have begun to realize what happened.

Can you imagine the joy--and the feeling of renewal, and positive outlook for the future--at the Inauguration of Gore/Kerry in January '09! There will be dancing in the streets!

I might have some of that enthusiasm for Gore and someone else--like Clark. I would not have it for Kerry in top spot. His opportunistic vote for the war, and early concession*, were just too compromising. But a Gore/Kerry ticket has special magic, in my opinion--restoring the rightful order of things--and bringing complementary strengths, and, above all, LEGITIMACY, to the executive branch.

-----

*(I do think that Kerry was in a tough spot--but it was largely his own fault, for failure to loudly object to, and prevent, the takeover of our election system by Bushite electronic voting corporations and installation of EASILY hackable vote tabulation systems. The story is that Christopher Dodd misinformed him on the perils of the new electronic voting systems. But I hold Kerry responsible for KNOWING how the votes are counted and by whom. If the Dodd story is true, Kerry should not have relied on that Bilderberg 'Democrat''s word. He should have looked into the matter himself. Kerry furthermore voted for HAVA, that criminal piece of legislation that was so full of holes, an idiot could see through it. That's the '02 law that permitted "trade secret" code, and many other evils ("paperless" voting--unauditable, unrecountable votes, for godssakes!), into our election system. I think we've had some doublespeak from Kerry--both on the war, and on the election system. I still think he WAS elected, and should join Gore in taking back the White House for the people who elected them!)

13. Gore Is a Gifted Speaker, Especially When...
... the first three rows of the audience are lined with high schoolers and college students.

He comes alive, and sheds the "wooden" image.

I first saw him speak in 1990, when he was the honorary Co-Chair for: http://hearstfdn.org/ussyp/

He literally climbed up on a rickety chair, atop a rickety riser, to illustrate the spike in carbon emissions since the Industrial Age.

He was my Class's Commencement Speaker (it was his, Tommy Lee Jones', and John Lithgow's 25th Reunion): http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=harvard+commencement+1994+gore

Again, he was anything but robotic.

14. I saw him when he came to DFW to talk about An Inconvenient Truth.
You're right, he's a gifted speaker.

I so badly want him to run in '08, I could weep.

15. I Concur with the One Senator/One Governor View, Though...
... having one very popular current or former Governor (in a flippable state) on the ticket could make a very real difference.

I'm partial to Mark Warner of Virginia - 13 electoral votes (and its media markets extend into some other purplish areas in surrounding states).

5. So what are you doing to help Dems win Nov. 7
right now, that's the most important thing to do.

8. Take your own advice
I see you on all these threads bucking up the rovian spin. Yet here you say the most important thing to do is help Dems win. So STFU about Kerry and do what you claim is the most important.

Well, I don't think you did, but if you fell into the trap that rove has spun, then you did. Did you?

17. First Off...
... nobody tells me to STFU, so long as my birth certificate still reads, "Made in America". My First Amendment rights are every bit as robust as yours: no more so, no less so.

Secondly, just because I have leveled criticisms of some of the DNC's approach doesn't make me Rovian.

Thirdly, if you don't believe the second point, I refer you to the wise words of Benjamin Franklin: "Our critics are our friends..."

18. I never told you, or anyone, to STFU
Go look and read it again - for the first time, obviously.

I told the poster who advised Kerry to STFU to take his own advice. My gawd, if someone can tell Kerry to STFU and you won't speak for Kerry's rights, no one has any rights. I have and do exercise my rights. And I am exercising my rights by standing tall with Kerry. You have a problem with that?

19. I Need New Glasses...
My apologies. I followed that line to the wrong thread.

I am sorry.

However, I may not agree with the other person, but I still defend his/her right to speak his/her mind. I'd rather know that that sort of meme is out there, to figure out how to combat it, wouldn't you?

Please accept my apology. I clearly need new glasses.

- Dave

P.S. I, too, stand with Kerry.

6. I don't get it either
I saw Senator Kerry's remarks yesterday with a group of 20 friends. We all applauded a TV in a bar in middle of the MGM Grand. We got nothing but smiles from everyone around us. People want to hear this and need to hear this!

12. Agreed!
I think that KKKarl has lost his touch - or else the Peter Principle has finally bit him in the ass:

Maybe while he was busy using those college classes to dodge the draft, he should have bothered to finish the degree: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Rove
