I can't believe this isn't on the Greatest Page - I logged on this a.m. to see how y'all were enjoying this video.

It includes our boy king bragging on our "plenty smart" troops.

Keith Olbermann deserves his huges huge ratings boost.

Good on ya, sir!

It sure separates the wheat from the chaff, though.

4. And don't forget that Keith is going to have another special
comment on tonight's show. Let'em have it, Keith, with both barrels. And then reload and hit them again. Enough of this BS.

Memo to Chucklenuts, Dead Eye, SnowJob, et al. - Kerry called you guys stupid and you proved his point.

5. Oh, I think the brightest among them are beginning to realize that
they opened a can of worms by too readily jumping on Kerry. They know they made a mistake, so they're doing the next best thing. They're blaming Kerry because Kerry is a nationalistic figure who they feel should have been less ambiguous.

If it wasn't a joke he had said many times before, I might have some compassion for the pundits who made a false start on this one yesterday.

8. IMO,
the Repukes just acted in a knee-jerk manner and attacked Kerry and did not expect that it would backfire on them this time. They figured that swiftboating would still work and IMO they figured wrong this time.

The last thing the Repukes need is an emphasis on what is going on in Iraq.

7. Keith was awesome last night! Well, he's always pretty awesome.
Notice how he looked at Dana Milbank with that WTF expression? Milbank just didn't get it, did he?

I loved the segment about drapes too.

Special comment, special comment! Bravo Keith! Keep taking names and kicking ass.

...I wonder why he keeps getting on the show. He's always comically off-the-mark...but then maybe being comical is his actual function?

14. On Countdown tonight:

Keith's SPECIAL COMMENT tonight on who should really be apologizing.

The flap over what Sen. John Kerry calls his "botched joke" has prompted the Democrat to cancel campaign appearances over the next two days, officials said Wednesday. Meanwhile, the rhetoric between Kerry and the White House continued to escalate. Bush's spokesman pressed Kerry to apologize for a comment Republicans say was disrespectful of U.S. fighting forces in Iraq, saying he "put gasoline on the fire" of an already sizzling midterm election campaign. "Sen. Kerry may have botched the line, but what he said was insulting to the troops, and what he ought to say is, 'Look, I botched the line, but I'm sorry for giving offense,'" press secretary Tony Snow said on CBS's "The Early Show." "We're not the one who whipped this up into a big issue. Sen. Kerry did so yesterday," said Snow, appearing the day after President Bush and Kerry traded their harshest accusations since the 2004 presidential race. Kerry fired back on MSNBC-TV, accusing the White House of capitalizing on his misstatement. "I'm not gonna let these guys distort something completely out of its context solely for the purpose of avoiding responsibility, which is what they're doing." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13018908/

WEB-EXCLUSIVE COMMENTARY By Richard Wolffe and Holly Bailey: There's no fight like an old fight. And this week's emotional exchanges between President George W. Bush and Sen. John Kerry were nothing if not old. Kerry screwed up what he called a "botched joke" about Bush's brainpower when it comes to Iraq; Bush pounced by challenging his ex-rival's commitment to the troops. Memo to Bush and Kerry: neither of you are on the ballot next week. And while it may be satisfying to rehash the last election, you both run the risk of looking totally out of touch. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15512649/site/newsweek/

Democratic U-S Senate candidate Harold Ford Junior said today he doesn't agree with Senator John Kerry's remarks about American troops. Ford said in a news release that Kerry was wrong whatever the intent and he needs to apologize to American soldiers. http://www.newschannel5.com/Global/story.asp?S=5619008

It's shows what THEY think of the troops,
they ASSUMED he was talking about the troops
and not about THEM.

21. Exactly--they assumed he was saying it about the troops
because down inside--the troops are pawns to them, but they, the war-leaders, are beyond criticism. Bush can easily muster outrage if the criticism is against the troops--who couldn't? But how does he answer to the real criticism, that because he was terribly short-sighted and unaware of the history and culture of Iraq, we were not "greeted as liberators" and this was not an easy "mission accomplished"?

There were no WMD's, Saddam Hussein was a little tin god dictator whose absence brought instability, in the after "mission accomplished" we got rid of Garner (who had a positive list of needs) for Bremer (a slick micromanager) and never had the "overwhelming force" troop level that the Powell doctrine very correctly indicated was needed for quelling the start of insurrection. In addition to overlooking the lack of WMD's, we failed to notice the poor infrastructure (really? After years of war, bonbings and sanctions?) that meant a civil catastrophe--no power. There was looting of museums and...er...ammo dumps.

The troops and the generals (contrary to Messr's Guiliani and Boehner, who respectively dissed both) know what's going on. It's Bush, Cheney, Rice, and Rumsfeld who seem irremidiably dense.

However anyone could confuse Kerry's meaning is a mystery.

That's what these republicans think of our troops.
That's why they don't care if our soldiers have proper body armor.
They don't care if they live or die.

18. "Why should we hear about body bags and deaths?"
"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths," Barbara Bush said on ABC's "Good Morning America" on March 18, 2003. "Oh, I mean, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"
