When we can get an electable progressive candidate through the Primary process, then maybe we'll have a "Tennessee liberal" candidate. Until then, Harold Ford, Jr. (D) is a far better choice than Bob Corker (R).

Remember these three things about voter categories:
1. It's the job of the political party to get out their "base".
2. It's the job of the candidate to convert the swing voters
3. It's not possible to get much of the other party's core "base".

Kerry was a DUD here - and we HAVE elected Democrats (our governor is a Dem and state General Assembly is majority Dem) - so it has more to do with the "Yankee doesn't understand me" contingent than anything.

Ford was the CHAIRMAN of Kerry's campaign here, folks, lest you forget. I'm sure he was ASKED his opinion on Kerry's statements as a result.

I had donated money to him, then his torture vote pissed me off so i burned a check i had written to send him. I felt kinda guilty for it a time or two since. After this i am very happy i burned the check and sent the money to John Lasche(sp?) instead.
