IRAQ MOVING TOWARD CHAOS! Iraqi security forces REFUSE TO TAKE ORDERS!!!
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 11:03 AM by originalpckelly

"A classified briefing prepared two weeks ago by the United States Central Command portrays Iraq as edging toward chaos, in a chart that the military is using as a barometer of civil conflict.

A one-page slide shown at the Oct. 18 briefing provides a rare glimpse into how the military command that oversees the war is trying to track its trajectory, particularly in terms of sectarian fighting.

The slide includes a color-coded bar chart that is used to illustrate an “Index of Civil Conflict.” It shows a sharp escalation in sectarian violence since the bombing of a Shiite shrine in Samarra in February, and tracks a further worsening this month despite a concerted American push to tamp down the violence in Baghdad.

In fashioning the index, the military is weighing factors like the ineffectual Iraqi police and the dwindling influence of moderate religious and political figures, rather than more traditional military measures such as the enemy’s fighting strength and the control of territory."

Iraq is moving toward chaos right before us.

2. good lord, what a ridiculous chart-- note that every indicator...
...is essentially non-quantifiable, so that the aggregate indicator is entirely qualitative. While I certainly agree with the general observation that things are worsening-- it doesn't take rocket science to see that-- the rest of this chart is pure public relations eyewash.

3. Yeah, it was a secret internal chart...
I guess that gives an example of how bad we are administering the war.

5. This is a big deal, because it is what the military is really saying to bush...
that means he has been lying to us when he is saying it's all roses there. Now I know we know that, but the American people don't. So that is why this matters.

14. "...portrays Iraq as edging toward chaos" That's like saying Bush is
"edging toward" committing war crimes or acting insane.

15. Is this new style democracy?
Is this a created reality by this administration? If so, it looks like the people of the occupied country are stating their disapproval of the order installed upon them.

17. This is the real story for today's headlines
but nooo, the media is focused on Kerry. Maybe they will mention it as a by-line since Kerry refereed to Iraq. Of course the Bushies will not respond - We don't discuss secret documents. What a cop out.

I had some GOP cool-aid drinker complain that only a small part of Iraq is having trouble. Most of Iraq is peaceful and calm & that the media doesn't talk about the good things. I suggested that if it is indeed that peaceful maybe if bush, condi, rummy, cheney visit those areas in Iraq that the media would cover it. Maybe they could tour peaceful iraq on New Orleans style floats tossing candy, US flags, and trinkets to the swarm of happy iraqis. He response was that I just wanted them to get killed??? So it's not that peaceful???
