Kerry can keep saying what he wants to say but if Ford needs to ask him to apologize because TN voters are idiots and don't understand "botched joke," then so be it.

1. Kerry IS the "botched joke".
Kerry has had nothing but negative effect on the Democratic party. Move on.

2. Ha Ha, Keep Catapulting the Propaganda!

And no Democrat is going to be bullied by these people, by these kinds of attacks that have no place in American politics.

3. Oh lovely
so isn't that just like the repunks DOING anything to get elected. Please Harold don't have any principles - just say whatever you need to say to the dumb fucks in TN - hmmm how about if Harold had just kept his big fat mouth shut.... Kind of like Ford voting for the Military Commissions Act. I want Ford to get elected - but ONLY because of the balance of power in the Senate - Ford has never done anything to impress me - he has seemed like a freaking DINO for years....

4. Exactly right
I don't see how pukes gain from making this big fuss. Al this attention makes it more of a national election, and a referendum on Iraq. How does the puke candidate in Maryland, Steele, gain from this? Cardin has called for Kerry to apologize(for what, I don't really know). I think the Steele campaign should change the subject. He and the rest of the pukes lose if voters spend a lot of time thinking about Iraq.
Its a two day story. In a quick TV surf, only Faux still was fixed on it.

5. Feh! And allow them to paint the whole party yellow!
Ford should have kept his mouth shut instead of feeding the gop fire. A simple no comment would have done fine if he was asked, which he wasn't. He in fact volunteered to ask Kerry to apologize.

BTW people in Tennessee are not so stupid they don't get the botched joke thing, it's just an excuse for his bad behavior.

6. Why do you think they need to bash Democrats to win?
It doesn't paint them as brave men. It does show them to be followers who will do anything to win.

It turns them into cowards too afraid of their own shadows to stand up for us.

If a botched joke is enough for them to turn tail and run, how will them stand up in congress and fight for our rights?

9. No thanks.
But I'm not voting in Tennessee. I did send money to the Kerry/Edwards campaign and subsequently to Friends of Kerry. So I do take offense.

10. I vehemently disagree
Dems lose when we attack each other. It makes Dems look weak and like we can't make policies together. Ford hurt all Dems with his comments. He should have responded with an attack on Bush's insane Iraq plans. In other words, change the story instead of making the story linger. Dumb political move.

Let's also remember that Ford trashed Pelosi many times. I'm glad I never donated to him and I was about to.

11. I live in Tn...
and am no longer the bright eyed idealist I was in my youth. I no longer look for that knight in shining armour that would ride in on a white horse and rescue my party from the evil clutches of rightwing fascism. I quit looking for my personal political purist, the perfect candidate, if you will, in 2004. All I knew then, is that I would have to vote for the candidate that I did not like in order to keep the supreme court from being stacked with rightwing, religious zealots. It was a defining moment when it became clear to me that I would choose my party no matter what over the party of rush limbaugh, sean hannity, bill o'reilly, ann coulter, pat robertson and jerry falwell.

I'm older now, I don't entertain the illusion anymore that someday someone would come to deliver all things wise and wonderful, with no baggage, no ulterior motives and a beyond reproach personal life.

I will vote for Harold Ford Jr. thank you very much.

12. We lose elections because the other side is better
at maintaining message discipline and harpooning our side. We need Democrats to loudly denounce the president and his cabal for being unintelligent dolts. We need to remind the public of * laughing about not finding weapons of mass destruction. That was much more insulting. Mr. Murtha gets it. Quit turning on ourselves and attack the opposition together.

13. Nope. Sorry, but we have a national image to uphold (or, we COULD, rather).
Ford's cowardice spreads to Democrats in general in the public's mind.
