Murtha: Kerry Flap ‘Just Distracting From The Real Issue, The War On The Ground’
Murtha: Kerry Flap ‘Just Distracting From The Real Issue, The War On The Ground’

Today on MSNBC, Rep. John Murtha (D-PA), a 26-year Marine Corps veteran, talked about the media flap over remarks by Sen. John Kerry (D-MA). Murtha said there is “no question in my mind that John Kerry supports the troops,” and that right-wing attacks on Kerry are “just distracting from the real issue: the war on the ground.”

In September, Reps. Murtha and Dave Obey (D-WI) released a report finding that the U.S. Army’s preparedness for war has “eroded to levels not witnessed by our country in decades.”

1. Murtha KNOWS full well BushInc lies about the words of Dem vets.
WH spent the last year twisting Murtha's reasonable 6-12 month redeployment withdrawal plan into "cut and run" and used it against the whole Dem party as "party of cut and run" for the past year.

He knows not to fall for WH spin against ANY Dem vet.

10. There is no doubt Murtha believes Kerry's explanation
No way Kerry would diss the troops. Snow is reading statements of Kerry while he was protesting the VN war where he said our soldiers had committed bad acts against the locals. Was he not speaking the truth? That war had disintegrated into chaos and the reasons for being there was murkier by the day - same as Iraq. War is an ugly adventure, killing people is ugly. WWII was a necessity, VN and Iraq were and are not necessary. Don't blame the soldiers, blame the leadership that appear to have a personal interest in this war. Changing the Middle East should have been discussed from the beginning by this administration and not WMD's, etc. for going to war. What is so hard to figure out here?

Not a Kerry fan by the way but I believe he means well. No way is he a mean spirited person like our president and all those he has surrounded himself with.

14. 100% correct.
Every Democrat's response should focus on the Bush administration's colossal failure in Iraq.

That's why I haven't chimed in on any of the "Kerry gaffe" flame-bait threads, and will continue to abstain.

16. Talk about a No frickin' Brainer!
Unfortunately "No Brain" describes the media, which is why this stupid story won't go where it belongs, which is deep down into the memory hole.

17. While I agree with
the sentiment, I think we should all realize that a "real" issue is one that has an effect on an election. Not what we would want it to be, not what it should be.

Unless the Dem politicians realize this and learn to counter these things, they're going to be disappointed yet again, and leave us average joes to "enjoy" another 2 years of the Repuke hegemony.
