17. He said Bush needed to go back to school, not the troops
If you listen to the whole talk, and not the five seconds they play, this becomes obvious.

to F*CK no. :)

Kerry speaks for me. I am grateful that he has stepped up (again) and is not backing down from these maniacs. Get em Kerry. Take it to em.

7. Not just no, but hell no, and here's why
The out-of-context comment for which he's being excoriated was not about the troops.

Yes-voters need to figure this out: IF KERRY APOLOGIZES TO THE TROOPS HE CAVES IN TO THE SPIN THAT MAKES IT ABOUT THE TROOPS WHEN IT WAS NOT, plus he puts his remarks back into the news cycle as his apologies are replayed along with the original comments, rather than his explanation.

Kerry needs to turn this around and make every interview a commentary on what a fuck-up bush is and how bush's irresponsible careless anti-learning attitude has gotten us stuck in Iraq.

9. He should CLARIFY the joke to the troops
That it was directed at Bush and his messing up Iraq, and that it was not directed at the troops

but Kerry is simply not a good speaker. Why in the world could he not be more thoughtful in his communication on this. His "I'm not apologizing to anybody" is of course going to be used against him. He is still a politician and should know this. So I am voting a maybe.

13. His lack of apology will be his saving grace.
He's protecting his integrity. When the truth subsequently comes out, he'll never have left it....

That's why you fight back.

That's why you show them that he has used the joke before against Bush.

15. YES! Just as soon as actually says something to insult them.
Which, as far as I can tell, he has not done.

16. If he apologizes then he will be admitting that he directed those comments at them
...BTW how the hell does Rush Limbaugh get away with making fun of a disabled man but Kerry gets bashed literally from the Left and Right over what he said.

21. Hell, NO!
His remarks were NOT aimed at the troops but at the idiot "Commmander-in-Chief Decider" who put them there, for all of the wrong reasons, KNOWING such reasons were lies, and who continues to bog them down in a quagmire. HE is the one who needs to apologize to the troops, their families, and the families of those who've died for using their lives as pawns in a political game for oil, greed and ambition.

22. Hell, no, and he shouldn't have changed his story, either.
I joined the military because twelve years of economic mismanagement by Reagan and Bush 41 left me unable to find a job with decent benefits. I didn't find Kerry's words insulting - what I found insulting was his expecting us to believe that he "botched up" his "joke." There's no way a speaker as skilled as him and who has crushed a sitting pResident in three debates would omit so many words in a supposed "joke," it's only common sense.

Kerry had it right as he spoke it, and I wish he would have stuck to his guns. I don't believe his excuse and I wouldn't expect Repugs to, either.
