Two things are true - They can't bring up the story without putting a focus on the war and the longer they talk about it the more they lose any meaningful message. Time is running out.

I thought the only really sellable "message" they have is the "the dems will raise your taxes" - not that its true - but that thought could impact people on the fence. And that message is lost in the Kerry noise.

Besides, any dem that needs to disavow it for Tuesday is free to do so.
