1. I hope they don't kill him
I want him to be Smirk and Snarl's cellmate after their war crime trials.

2. does ANYONE give a shit anymore?
A majority say the war wasn't worth it. it just reminds people about all the lives that were traded for one fucking verdict. Is this supposed to be celebratory?

10. Yes. The 5th was announced
quite some time ago. Exactly 48 hours before the American elections. Coincidence? I think not.

12. Maybe they're just reminding everyone about it
or spreading the word to a few who didn't catch it the first time around.

The way the news cycles are, it may have dropped out of a lot of people's short term memory. Not to mention that it really didn't get much play when it was first out.

I checked AP Breaking and didn't see it there, but it doesn't hurt to remind the voters and de-fuse the "SADDAM CONVICTED AND SENTENCED TO DEATH BY PUBLIC HANGING!" barrage we'll have in the 36 hours up to when the polls open.

5. Ah, a NOVEMBER surprise, then!!!!
You'd think fucking al-Malaki would put the kabash on that, seeing as he's already gotten up and told the press that BushCo lies like hell about his relationship with al-Malaki to manipulate the elections.

Unless, of course, al-Malaki's gotten a "payday" for ensuring that the predetermined outcome of this show trial happens just before the elections.

I dunno, this could backfire--Saddam is the DEVIL WE KNOW. And you know what they say about the DEVIL WE KNOW. Hell, those GOP fucksticks at SOUTH PARK have done more to humanize Saddam than a thousand Ba'ath Party devotees singing his praises could do in a thousand years. The verdict might actually make people feel sorry for the bastard (there comes a point in time, when the mighty have fallen, that it becomes bullying to continue to beat on them), or it may not resonate at all.

I mean, the guy looks pretty pathetic, and between the wild beard pictures, the underwear pictures, and the shots of him in the dock, he doesn't look like Mister ToughGuy Stand-on-the-Balcony-and-Shoot-Off-Yer-Gun, now, does he?

6. I thought it was always on Nov. 5th
They need to postpone it until after the election.

8. that's what I had thought
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 02:37 PM by npincus
but AAR reported it as a story breaking onthe AP. So maybe something had happened inbetween that I wasn't aware of.

Well, let the trumpets blow. Who gives a flying fuck?

13. I saw...I forget where...they were TALKING about postponing it...
because THEY weren't really happy about it being mixed up with the elections here.

Don't know if they've actually taken action on it yet...not sure how it would affect the election.

My two cents...the backwash would be all jizzed up and vote Republican, but then they never got the message that Saddam was NOT involved with 9/11...
he's a sortabrown person with a weird-sounding name, so he's guilty by definition.
:dunce:
The rest...I don't know. Depends on whether they are intelligent/informed or not.
Could go either way.

14. Three trials and 8 Defendents.
This is the verdict of the 1st Trial. They are still in the 2nd and a 3rd is scheduled. It will be at least a year before any sentence would be carried out.
