Actually, I'm glad he apologised.


I'm glad he apologised and I'm glad he's backing out of campaigning.

I'm not at all convinced that his silly gaffe is going to have as huge an effect on votes as some seem to think, but it *is* a good thing that the war's back in the public eye and the rest of the Dems are distancing themselves, quite rightly, in my opinion, from the perception of "anti-troop" feeling.

Kerry's stumbling may yet prove to have opened a door. Let's hope that the Rest of the US doesn't conflate his tasteless humour (and it WAS tasteless) with the rest of the Party.
