Nearly one-third of the 104 U.S. troops killed in Iraq in October were on multiple tours, a Chicago Tribune analysis published Wednesday said.

Using U.S. Department of Defense data, the newspaper said October was the fourth deadliest month for U.S. forces after 137 deaths in November 2004, 135 in April 2004 and 107 in January 2005.

The newspaper said records showed 58 were killed by mines and makeshift bombs, eight died in sniper fire and 30 more died in skirmishes on missions. Another six died in accidents and non-hostile incidents, the Tribune said.
