Brian Williams: Daily Show is "vitamin supplement," not "main meal"
But, Brian, why is the supplement so much vastly more nutritious AND delicious than the calorically empty cardboard you serve?

Williams: Don't get election news from fake anchor Stewart
Philadelphia Inquirer
Jon Stewart is "the vitamin supplement" while network news is "the main meal," says Brian Williams. The NBC anchor tells Gail Shister: "I regard him as a freestanding branch of government in this country. I love the show. But the day it becomes the primary source of news for people, then the diet is out of whack."

1. In other words
The only way to get the whole story is to plug in with your corporate news talking heads. Gotcha.

2. I think Jon would agree
except for the part about any teevee news being a "main meal"

7. The main meal should come from the news forager him/herself.
TV news is more like the crap you sneak out of the fridge when you're not even hungry, just bored.

4. Puffed up blowhard that he may be...
...I kind of think Stewart would agree with him.

Jon suggested as much when he debated Tucker on Crossfire a couple years ago.

10. Jon Stewart is the master of self-deprication
"I follow a show where puppets make prank phone-calls."

The Daily Show isn't a vitamin.

It's more like a deep-colon cleansing of laughter to purge our bodies of the mass-media toxins.

11. I dine very nicely at Countdown
And stop by Daily Show for a little cheese and fruit.

Finish up with a brandy at Colbert Report.

And between meals I snack at Talking Points Memo, or buzz on java from DU.

That network stuff? Shit, I'd rather eat at Applebee's.

16. Yes, Brian, the pink flamingo segment your network carried last night
was so needed and informative and just down-right filling.

Go back to standing on a wedding cake, asshole.
