"Don't blame Rumsfeld for what is happening in Iraq, blame the generals"
Boehner on CNN with Wolf. So now the Repubs want to blame the "generals?" Are the generals on the ground not part of the troops over there? Wolf didn't even blink.

1. Heheh....and THIS is how corporate media protects BushInc by ALLOWING
the generals and troops on the ground to take the blame for their failed strategies.

BushInc ABUSING THE TROOPS, as usual.

5. The difference between this statement and Kerry's statement:
Kerry's statement was an accident, whereas Boehner just displaced intentional contempt for our men and women in uniform.

6. Way to support the troops, Bonehead!
If the generals were to blame, then Rummy would still be to blame for not firing them.

But it was Rummy's plan: using too few troops, with too light equipment, and assuming all plans working perfectly, all variables falling the "right" way.

Since when has that kind of planning EVER been anything but a prescription for military disaster?

10. I think some of our general officers need to answer
some serious questions about just how it is they went along with this non-sense.

They knew better. And I would expect a lot more from United States officers.

SO -I don't think this is just about Rumsfeld either - God, I can't believe I just agreed with that idiot.

13. Uh..who is the Commander In Chief?
The Generals follow orders. Tommy Franks agreed with Rumsfailed regarding the Illegal Invasion of Iraq. Read the book "Fiasco".

26. Well, according to Bu*h he does what his generals tell him.
Not that I believe the tripe - HOWEVER.

Sure appears to me that some people were looking for promotion first and readily said what he wanted to here - AND THEY KNEW BETTER.

The United States counts on its officer corp - they are the ultimate defenders of the constitution.

They need to be looked at. Read the book? - Are you serious??

This isn't about a book - it IS about the way our officer corp stands up to BS.

Joe

12. "Blame the generals"?! And the media thinks KERRY insulted the troops?!
This is too much. Everyone please K&R this. I hope Olbermann notes this stunning hypocrisy.

Oh yeah, and fuck you Leslie Blitzer, you pale shadow of a reporter.

14. hmmm yeah lemme think about that one...no.
What a jackass.

With that kind of logic, why stop there? Don't blame the generals, blame the junior officers. No wait, they're probably doing the best they can...let's blame the enlisted personnel. If only each and every one of them fought like Rambo, we'd have finished killing every man, woman, and child in Iraq right down to the lizards by now. It's their fault. Couldn't possibly be the fault of the people who put them in this untenable situation in the first place....

And I also heard Wolf gloss over the statement like it was a sage response.

closely paraphrasing:

Boehner: don't blame Rumsfeld. He's the best S.O.D. the Pentagon's ever had.

Blitzer: But Rumsfeld is in charge.

Boehner: The Generals on the ground are in charge.

When I read about that, I vowed not to watch him again.

I stopped watching CNN in December 2005.
