Yard signs I saw Halloween nite. |
|
As we were trick or treatin' last nite and having a grand time with great fall temps and no wind, for once, deciding which house to stop at, you know, which ones look "open for business" let's say, because some are more obvious than others, whereas we came upon one house that had porch lights on, but no JackOLantern, etc. We tried, no answer.
Now what kind of person has porch lights on in a regular trick or treating neighborhood on Halloween, and doesn't participate? I mean, if you are not participating- ya turn off the lights, right? Well, as it turned out, they had Frank Wolf and George Allen signs on their front lawn, so my conclusion is- Rethugs are inconsiderate!!! I know, Duh!!!
Then I see a Vote Yes to the Marriage proposal... on another neighbors lawn, and I wanted to ask- why do you care if same sex folx want to get hitched? Why does it bother you? ... I also noticed that they had their lites on, but weren't participating...I see a pattern!!!
Turn your damn lights off assholes, if you don't want to answer the door!!!

1. You should've tp'd their lawn. |
|
No treats, then tricks! However, they might've called the cops.

2. In some states, registered sex offenders are banned from Halloween |
|
Maybe that's why they weren't participating?

8. One could leave a helpful sign on their door that says... |
|
"Level One Sex Offender: No Trick-or-Treaters Please."
I'm not saying you SHOULD.
It's probably illegal.
But it's something, I suppose, one COULD do.

Now this is just funny. A "really sassy humorous statement ahead" warning might have saved what was left of the last swig of soda... now splashed across my desk and down my shirt.
Still, totally worth it. They can't participate because they are all sex offenders? That was hysterical.

10. You sh*t in a paper sack, put it on the porch, set it on fire, knock loudly on |
|
the door, and yell "Fire, fire", hide in the bushes, and watch the fun begin.

7. You might want to rethink that. |
|
In our neighbourhood (as I am sure in others) some people do not participate for religious reasons, or because the homeowners are elderly, or handicapped in such a way as to make answering the door repeatedly extremely difficult.
However, we have houses with high porches and stairs, and to leave the front of the houses in complete darkness is an invitation to disaster, should someone want to pay a non-Hallowe'en related visit. In addition, some of the elderly in the hood want their front porches lit for safety reasons, i.e. a potential intruder, burglar, etc.
These people are not being assholes. They are lighting their porches, just as they do every night. Last time I checked, they are still free to do so - whether you think it appropriate or not.

A couple of years ago I was nursing a sprained ankle. Getting up & down to open the door was too painful, not to mention useless because the kids were gone before I made it to the door. So I turned out my light & quit treating.
Some kids still rang my doorbell so I turned my lights back on, I didn't want anyone tripping over my steps in the dark. I just didn't bother trying to answer the door.
