Is it too late to get a passport without the chip inside?
Think I read some where that the end of Oct was the deadline. I really don't want that chip in my passport. I don't travel out the country but once every couple years but that chip worries me (theft of my data).

2. No, it's not too late
The conversion process has begun, but my travel agent just told me there is still a mixture of old and new passports being issued, and it's going to take months to convert all the production lines - starting with the Colorado plant. As of right now if your application is sent to Colorado, you will receive an e-passport.

5. i found a passport today
in a file cabinet at the thrift shop, along with much personal data and a box of unused banking checks.
it was current, and usused.

I pulled the passport out and went to find a worker at the shop and explained that the stuff in the file cabinet needed to be collected and attempted to return to the owner. They said they would collect it and i took them to the cabinet and watched them get it all and take it away.

in a college town, probably someone dumped a roommate's stuff, nice of them to do that, eh?

sorry for the off-thread topic, just not everyday i find a passport.

6. Loss of passport is a serious matter
A statement or police report will be required to apply for its replacement.

7. i hope she gets it back
i'd have returned it personally, but had to leave it with the shop workers.

i was suprised that they hadn't bothered to clean out the cabinet of any personal items.

8. It's not too late but get one now
They keep extending the deadline cause of technical issues and using up the old passport stock. But now is the time to get that passport. There's no telling when they will officially switch over.
