I hate what the media has caused my country has become.
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 05:33 PM by Dr Fate
And I hate these Democrats who choose to go along with just about everything the media says instead of fighting for the truth.

I hate the fact that after- oh, say THOUSANDS of times that the media has lied about Democrats, you still don't see hardly any elected Democrats on TV fighting the media or their false perceptions. And I don't mean fighting them with obscure web-text either- I mean fighting them to their faces and taking a stand.

I have never said I hate my country before- ever- but I dislike a system where leaders are elevated or crushed- not based on job performance- but on false media perceptions.

Democrats still don't have a clue- I have not seen them do anything differently this time- we still let the media bully us and push us around like always.

I see two huge problems with my country-

Number 1 is media bias in favor of Republicans. (Note- Republicans cannot function as they do w/o it- so I list this a bigger problem than the GOP itself)

Number 2 is Democrats who wont do a DAMN thing about media bias- they barely even say that it exists- at least not in a public forum. (Again- Republicans could not function as they do w/o the Democrats giving media bias a free pass)

I'm counting on Dean's 50 state strategy and some Republican fatigue to pull us through- b/c otherwise, whether we are talking about fighting media bias, attacking back, or having a unified front, our "leadership" is doing the exact same things that they did or did not do in the last 3 election cycles we lost.

Thanks for listening,

Doc

2. The Democrats need an Anti-Rove
someone who fights for the truth as relentlessly as Rove fights for lies and propaganda.

4. Individual elected Democrats need to become mini anti-Roves.
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 05:40 PM by Dr Fate
Democrats who have media access have had thousands of opportunities to be anti-Roves when they go on camera.

Instead, more often than not, they take the easy route of pretending media perceptions are true as opposed to getting their fingernails dirty and exposing the truth.

This goes for BIG stuff like Iraq (DEMS choose to pretend Powell & the media was telling the truth rather than point out the numerous lies) or little stuff, like the Kerry thing.

17. Dems have nothing to fear but FEAR OF THE RW MACHINE - so when it matters
how will fear govern them and how will that help US, the citizens?

7. I see- so individual DEM candidates lose to the GOP on purpose????
That makes no sense.

No one is going to lose their job & prestige or a job opportunity on purpose because a corporate donor told them to.

6. There was a time.....
I believe it was Howard Dean that got out there and stumped and spoke his mind. Then it seems the so called stratigist did a number on him and he sunk like a rock. So sad. They wouldn't let him do his own thing, it appeared that kind of outspokeness was scary for those that lost 2 prior major elections for the Dems. Gawd, is this going to happen again? Sure the media is no help but you gotta admit Dean got air time, way back when!

11. The media needs to be fought- not used as an excuse for losing.
We ALL recognize that the media attacks people like Dean- now that we have recognized this fact, we need to DO SOMETHING about media bias.

The only thing I see the "leadership" doing is using media as an excuse for whenever they dont feel like fighting: "Oh- we cant do that - the media will say mean things about us."

It seems the "leadership" wants to have it both ways- they refuse to fight or even adress media bias, yet they use media bias as an excuse for not fighting whenever the base demands a fight.

8. Number 3
The media have an overwhelming, ever increasing supply of incompetence. From TV to the newspaper you buy every day, the media is brain dead in its love of crap, sports and more crap.
I worked in media. I know.

12. I would be happy if they were merely to SAY the media lies.
i think just SAYING it is a fact will go a long way- it will at least get more viewers to scrutinze what is being said about DEMS.

Most people think:

"Well everyone knows the media leans to the left- I've heard that for years, so if the media is bashing their own Democrats, then the DEMS must really have done something bad..."

10. They are a sorry lot, that's for sure...
Many news outlets have become nothing more than a feel-good, fluffy news letter or an extension of the carnival freak-show of yesteryear.

13. Problem = Corporate Media
This is a large and growing problem for every American, the Corporate Media is doing the bidding of the Publican controlled government. They are each providing the other, the cover-ups against the people, we will never know what is happening. The corporations are producing propaganda for Publicans, and Publicans are ensuring the corporations tax-cuts and profits. What will or can the people of America do to take back the 4th estate from the corporate crooks and the corrupt Publican government. Electing Democratic representatives may be a good start, but there is so much corruption, it will take a massive overhaul of the 4th estate. Abolish the corporate media and the owner's that have taken Republican ideology.

16. THANK YOU! couldn't agree more strongly...I was putting up an OP
along these lines, but got so PISSED I just gave up.

media REFUSE to tell the truth. that's all it is. Kerry's statement, when read with the preceding words about Bush, is OBVIOUSLY about NOTHING else but Bush. Anyone who tries to construe it any other way is the lowest sort of lying liar.

and the dems who have left Kerry behind (even Jack Murtha!....just saw him throw Kerry under the bus on CNN), should be ashamed for not taking the media to task for completely distorting Kerry's words, and FORCING the media to play Kerry's snip in its proper context.

I'm so furious I could just.....well, I dunno what I feel like doing.

18. Larger than the media... ALL Corporations!
This is where we let it slide... we let corporate money become involved in our campaigns (and I don't mean just Diebold--- many years before that!), we've let corporate lobbyists be the true power running this country, and the list goes on.

The media is just one arm of that corporate power.

Musolini would be proud.

20. I have said this before and I'll say it again, (warning analogy heavy)
the mass corporate media have created a Matrix* for the American People to live in. Reality is skewed and truth is irrelevant, with them it's all perception. They will pick our villains and our knights in shining armor or heroes. Fighting the Matrix is exceedingly difficult because you are on their home turf and Mr. Smith has unlimited power. They can and will edit, distort, obfuscate, omit, outright slander or ignore. Their brain washing goes primarily against the Democratic Party but it can go both ways. This is how they control the American People, just like Pavlov's dog, all they have to do is ring a bell and the required response will occur.

Another analogy is of professional wrestling, with it's designated good guys and bad guys. The mass corporate media is a clone of the professional wrestling referees. They are always looking somewhere other than where they should, while abuses are taking place. I have not watched professional wrestling since I was eleven years old, but even then, I was thinking, how could these referees be so stupid, it did not occur to me until later, this was part of the show. The bad guys could be throwing flame balls, hurling chairs, two could be ganging up on one, etc. and the referees were always preoccupied doing something else or distracted by someone outside the ring. In any other sport they would have been thrown out of the game but I never saw a wrestler disqualified.

Kicked and recommended
