The Main Reason For The JK Story: MSM Needs A Change Of Pace
I haven't posted anything about this ridiculous non-story, but from what I have gathered from MOST of the
coverage on TV is this: the MSM is playing this up because they have been so rough on the Rs for the past
6 weeks that they are looking for something - ANYTHING - that will give them a he said/she said story to
air.

They have tried to get other stories to stick - Harold Ford, William Jefferson, for example - but none of it has risen
to a significant level of interest with the public. The FACTS ON THE GROUND in Iraq and the Rs continued slide in
the polls has simply overwhelmed any electoral relevancy.

Tweety has been very much on this as a non-story. He is extremely disappointed that JK apologized, and I think he's right.
But I will repeat now what I said a few weeks ago during an earlier round of DU hand wringing: events on the ground in Iraq
will outweigh anything that could happen to help the Rs in this election. The JK story isn't Foleygate. It isn't 105 Dead soldiersgate.
It isn't Allengate. It is a blip. But it's the only blip the MSM has had in the past 6 weeks that gives them a chance to blast a Dem.

The problem for the Rs is that the attacks are all directed squarely at JK and NOT at the Ds in general. This will be a non-issue by the weekend,
unless it bites the Rs in the ass, which it may well do.

This blip isn't going to hurt us one bit on Tuesday. Trust me.

1. This should put the focus back on Iraq and shrub's ineptitude.

2. Amen! Much ado about squat, and the Kerry's not on any ballot anyway
The media has it's head up you know where. What about the missing 14,000 weapons?

3. Dems that have publicly criticized Kerry make me want to puke!
I am more than a little ticked off that Howard Dean chose to renounce Kerry's statement rather than stand up and defend him.

And Hillary... she didn't have my vote before... but now I might actually actively campaign AGAINST her! :(

4. You're right. The MSM does need a change
of pace. We don't get news from them. But let something like the Kerry business happen and the media just beat that dead horse all over again. For hours and days on end. If Shrub doesn't run this country into the ground we can always count on the media to take up the cause. Keith Olbermann is the only person connected with the media these days who will tell it like it is. Forget K. Couric, B. Williams and whoever is on ABC now. They are not journalists--they are "names." They keep stirring the coals in a fire that is dying in order to appear on television and radio. Disgusting to say the least. Oops, fogot Mr. Monotone Blitzer. He is no journalist--he just tries to play one on TV.
