Trading Republican conservatives for Democratic conservatives. |
|
I have followed this election campaign for weeks as you have. I have noticed in a lot of races for congress that the Democratic party nominee for Senate and Representative appears conservative on abortion issues and other sexual issues. I have heard a lot of Democratic candidates even say they do not support universal healthcare.
So, when the elections have finished have we traded Republican conservatives for Democratic Boll Weevil conservatives like we had in the 1970's and 1980's and early 1990's?
Southern Liberals do exist and we should have those people making commercials denouncing Southern Republican conservatives as a part of our culture.

1. Republicans say the same thing about liberal or moderate republicans in the Northeast. Guess why |

Chaffee is losing? Because Republicans aren't supporting him. That's what happens when you get ideologically stringy.
Dems should have a big tent. Our conservative Democratic senator from North Dakota has promised intense investigations for the reasons for going to war.
Sounds like a senator I like.

2. WE NEED THE COMMITTEE CHAIRS |
|
Compare Senator Pat "I cover up anything Bush and Cheney tells me to" Roberts with Sen "I want to get to the bottom of this" Rockefeller. I am sick and tired of Pat Roberts as chair of the intelligence committee.
Please think strategically.
The committee chairs control the agenda. Don't you want John Conyers to be a committee chair?

However will our party conservative members then begin to attack women's rights to abortion?
Will our party's conservatives members stop an effort to get universal health care enacted?
Will Democratic conservatives stand in the way to repeal that mean spirited welfare law that the Republicans passed in 1996 and renewed last year and replace it with something more humane?
