so this explains the apology made by Kerry directed at the troops who believed the misinterpretation fed them by BushInc and his mediawhores.

32. There are at least FOUR Retired Generals who think Iraq is a disaster!
As much as I love Howard Dean, having General Bastide (sp) blasting Bush, Rummy and the admins failed Iraq policy is MUCH more effective than having Democratic 'politicians' do it. We should be getting every General we CAN, including Wes talking. Where are they? I rmember a letter (?) pinted as a full page ad signed by dozens of retired military in 04 saying Bush's war strategy was a mistake. Where is this now?

64. These guys are already speaking out, and getting minimal coverage
Hell, Gens. Clark, Batiste, and others have been talking these issues to death for years now. The media is reluctant to report on it, which is a real shame because they're honorable men who know exactly what they're talking about.

What gets the newsmedia fired up, though, is controversy. Even artificial controversy will do. Jerry Springer wasn't just running a freakshow, his success was a bellweather for what brings in the audiences. What you must ask yourself, if you want to understand why national news coverage gets so damn skewed towards the ridiculous, is, "What is the foreign policy coverage equivalent of a semi-literate alcoholic cheating on his battered wife with a pair of gay midget lepers?"

No one is better equipped to take on these Springer-esque roles than politicians lobbing bullshit bombs at each other during campaign season.

37. So get a GENERAL like Wes on TV blasting them, not statements from Harry Reid
and the whole ploy of 'demanding an apology' shifts the focus FROM the issue, IMHO.

Is what Boehner SAID the problem, or is bush's failed Iraq 'strategy' the problem?

51. Wes Clark has been speaking of this for over a year.
He has had meetings with the Dems on the Hill and from what I gather, they have been prepared that Bush/Rove/Cheney would eventually blame their failures on the military itself. This crowd of chickenhawks NEVER takes responsibility for anything.

I imagine the elected Dems and the retired Generals will All speak out.

That's good. Payback.
They sent them to die in that war. They handled it poorly. And now they blame the ones who are stuck in that mess? Fuck them. If that won't anger the masses who are already fed up with the Iraq situation or who lost relatives.
The Dems should definitely use it just like the Repubs used it against Kerry. Make them pay.

39. Here's Hotline's write-up-
snip>
WIthin an hour of each other, DNC chairman Howard Dean, Sen. Min. Leader Harry Reid, DCCC chairman Rahm Emanuel issued blistering statements urging Boehner to "apologize" for his comments. The Democrats are linking Boehner's comments to Pres. Bush's assertion today that Sec/Def Don Rumsfeld is doing a banner job.

Here's what Boehner said on CNN today:

House Majority Leader John Boehner: Wolf, I understand that, but let's not blame what's happening in Iraq on Rumsfeld.
Wolf Blitzer: But he's in charge of the military.

House Majority Leader John Boehner: But the fact is the generals on the ground are in charge and he works closely with them and the president.

Quoth Reid: " It’s political leaders like Congressman Boehner and Donald Rumsfeld, who have failed. I expect President Bush and Congressional Republicans, who demanded John Kerry apologize, hold their own party’s majority leader to a much higher standard. There’s"

Quoth Emanuel: "President Bush used to say that he would listen to the generals. Today, he says he’s happy to listen to Secretary Rumsfeld while his lieutenant in Congress, John Boehner blames the generals on the ground for the chaos in Iraq."

Quoth Dean: "After the Bush Administration’s numerous failures in Iraq, to blame our brave troops is just wrong. John Boehner should apologize immediately."
