be named" has run its cycle, given a big fat explanation point by KO tonight. A very interesting George Washington election panel last night was nearly unanimous (with the exception of a typically arrogant rightie) in describing the coming Dem Wave that will wash us to victory on Tuesday. Sure, it is all about not being complacent, it is about GOTV. But...who needs Ambien when we have KO and his amazing Comments to settle down the addled mind? I will sleep easy tonight. We are on the home stretch.

1. Obligatory Nervous Nellie Whimpering Response:
I dunno-the thing I keep thinking about is how armies always fight the last war. We went into WWII all equipped to fight WWI all over again. We went into Vietnam all quipped to fight WWII-style large-unit battles that never materialized. We went into Baghdad all ready to fight in jungles.

We're going into this election preparing to defend against all the shit they pulled last time. The thing is, with everyone watching the Diebold machines, and even with a few highly-publicized instances of machine vote-throwing problems, I don't think the problem will come from the machines. That's not what they'll pull. It will be something else. My bet is that it will be low-tech. Specifically, I think they may have already disenfranchised large numbers of Democratic voters in ways that we won't find out about until after the election. I thin all kinds of people are going to go to the polls and get turned away because they have been removed from the voter rolls. I expect that this will have been done very selectively in certain key Congressional districts--just the right ones for the Puggies to hang onto a razor-thin majority. I think that s why KKKarl is smiling.

I hope I'm nuts.
