I'll bet Rove, Cheney et al are laughing their asses off at us tonight. |
|
We are now their bitches forever. Members of our party took the bait, jumped on the lying-GOP bandwagon and forced Kerry to apologize for something he had no business apologizing for.
Neither Hillary Clinton nor Harold Ford (that little GOP-ass-kissing PUNK) will ever get my vote for ANYTHING. What they did in parroting the GOP lies and asking Kerry to apologize was disloyal, unpatriotic, vile and disgusting.
If they ever run for higher office, I will actively work against both of them.
Hillary, Harold and others succeeded in giving the GOP a great night of drinking, dancing and rejoicing at how the Democrats turned on their own today. How DEMOCRATS AIDED AND ABETTED THE SECOND SWIFTBOATING of a DECORATED VIETNAM VETERAN.
We are the GOP's bitches. Today is the day they learned they have ultimate power, permanently, over us all. I am so disappointed in my party and my country.

Rabid conservatism is self-destructing and the death throes are going to be agonizing. But the big arc is with us.

6. Your choice of course. I think you're wrong though. |
|
The error was Kerry's! He's sure not the only politician who ever misspoke, but he really should have corrected himself right away and there would have been NO STORY!
The Pubs don't want to loose power, and they are going to be searching frantically for any little tidbit they can find. John has been in politics long enough to know that very well, but he still let it drag on.
Did the Pubs twist his words...of course! But that's what they always do. The Dems have to learn how to combat that!
As far as Ford goes, he's running for a seat that represents a LOT of Republicans. He's doing what he has to do, and I don't blame him. I've read a lot of threads condeming him for his stance on abortion etc, and my answer is A Senator is sent to Washington to represent the people of his State. IF that is what THEY want, then he is doing the right thing.
Hillary I suspect had two reasons for asking John to appologize. The first one being that he was preparing to be an opponent of hers in a Presidential Primary. The second I think was that she really thought that's what he should do.
I think John finally did do what he should have done two days ago. No matter what you mean, when you say something that is misunderstood, you really need to clear the air!

9. Why should Kerry apologize for his joke about Bush? |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 01:02 AM by Leopolds Ghost
Oh, I forgot, 70% of DUers (not to mention 90% of the population at large) have not heard Kerry's stump speech on CNN because they only cover damaging soundbites.
Kerry's been doing this joke for two years now, as has Leno. He flubbed the punch line once, as did Leno recently.
When, oh when, will you demand that Leno apologize??
Maybe it helps if all the DUers talking about this will review recent posts about what the joke was that he flubbed. Hint: the punch line had nothing to do with troops.
Don't criticise a joke if you don't understand the intent. That's just lame. As is the old canard "it's all relative to the listener. If the listener is offended, I'm offended."
Perfect Rove weather when that sort of moral relativism takes its toll.

12. Oh I understand the joke. I did hear the context too! |
|
Have you never heard the statement "Perception is the true reality."
It doesn't matter what Kerry intended to say. What metters is what people perceived him to say.
Like it or not, Kerry flubbed the line! He could have corrected he screwup right away and didn't. For all I know, he didn't even realize what he did until he was called on it.
John is just not a jokster, and he was trying to do something that doesn't come natural to him. That's a mistake for anyone. I think the real culprit is the dumb speechwriter. A good one never puts his boss in an uncomfortable spot, and this one did.
He should appologize because many people perceived his words to be against the troops, and he HAD to fix that.

7. I think Kerry did need to apologize. |
|
And he shouldn't have made a big deal about it. He said it, even though it was in error, and he should have, and did, apologize. It is understandable.
Now the Dems need to show pictures of Katrina... and demand that Bush apologize. And of his poor taste in searching for the wmd joke. And make him apologize. And Dems should make commercials asking for the apology.
If I was skilled at YouTube, there would be an apology demand there right now. Ava? Anyone?

Kerry did the smart thing. This isn't about anything other than winning. Rove won't be laughing in a few days.

These degenerates only care about themselves. Pelosi has assured them safety. That's all they care about, not their party.
