Al Gonzales should be Impeached for his Voting Rights Act Violations.
In Ohio, there is currently selective enforcement of the voter identification laws which were passed in 2005, when lawyers for Sen. Bill Frist went to Ohio telling tales (real whoppers) about the NAACP trading crack cocaine for votes. Frist's guy later admitted that he made the whole thing up. That did not stop Ohio from passing draconian laws designed to allow election boards to keep people from voting--of the felt like it.

Remember, Voter ID laws are most effective when they are selectively applied. That means that the people who pass them want them to be as confusing as possible. That way, when their own base comes to the poll, they can let them vote without bothering to ask for ID. But when the other side's base comes to the polls, they can demand everything from their blood type to a DNA analysis.

In the South under Jim Crow, poor white never paid a poll tax nor were they required to pass a literacy test. That was for Blacks only.

While the Voting Rights Act covers many forms of voting problems, its primary purpose was to stop selective abuses---and right now there is no worse example than what is going on in Ohio under the guise of "confusion."

So, where the hell is Al Gonzales, the man who has repeatedly ignored the legal opinions of his own career lawyers about matter related to the Voting Rights Act (Georgia Voters ID, Texas Redistricting) forcing the federal courts to intervene to correct the illegal decisions which he made. Is he in Ohio, forcing the state to enforce a uniform standard? Or is he in Texas, where the state Attorney General is actively prosecuting the neighbors of the elderly or disabled Democrats who help them mail their absentee ballots in order to discourage others from assisting these marginalized citizens from voting? Why did Democrats have to go to court to enforce the Voting Rights Act when it is the law?

When the House and Senate are in Democratic hands, please, please, please can they impeach Al Gonzales? He is the most guilty man in the current administration, because he knows the law better than any of the others, so he knows just how many of them he and the others have broken. Until he goes, the innocent will be persecuted and the guilty will be protected. DOJ investigations will be used to supress evidence and to create political ammunition for the GOP (like the Jefferson Davis raid). And the laws will be misinterpreted or even broken.

IMPEACH AL GONZALES, the enemy of free elections.
