I Am PISSED OFF at the STUPIDITY of the Democratic Party.
Sorry for the attitude, but it's true. I'm pissed off at the Dems right now, and in a big way. I'm confident many here feel the same.

I mean really. John Kerry utters a statement that, in context, even some Republicans have admitted was meant towards Bush rather than the troops. Why would Kerry bash the troops? He WAS a troop in Vietnam! It's senseless. Many of us Dems thought the best thing Kerry could to was to fight back, never apologize, and then hit Bush HARD where he is most vulnerable - IRAQ. This would have given Dems the edge they needed, and the conversation would have gone back to Bush's miserable foreign policy failures.

But what did the dems do? Kerry "apologized," and now the message is lost. The opportunity to hit Bush where it counts (Iraq) at a time when he is most vulnerable is LOST. Don't get me wrong, I love Kerry and feel he's a great guy - but I feel he goofed up here by backing down.

Why couldn't Kerry have said, "The real question is, why doesn't the President apologize to the country for bringing us into a war of choice using faulty intelligence where our brave men and women in uniform are now bogged down in the middle of a civil war with no end in sight due to this Administration's failed foreign policy decisions?"

Just like in 2004 when Kerry refused to fight back against the Swiftboat Assholes, just like after the election when Kerry refused to contest the election results when election fraud from electronic voting machines was clearly evident, Kerry backed down. And to this day, I cringe. Kerry should have been our President. The man has so much intelligence, so much integrity, and so much passion it never ceases to impress me. And I HATE seeing him back down and allowing the Repubs to walk all over him, and the rest of the Dems too.

What is with the Democratic Party these days. Why don't they EVER stand up and fight, especially when Bush is known to be totally VULNERABLE right now on Iraq. We just had the opening of a lifetime to really nail Bush on Iraq and now it is squandered.

Please Kerry, and the rest of you Dems - fight! Please fight back! You have the gift of a growing number of discontents in this country regarding Iraq - use it every chance you get and don't back down.

2. In fact Kerry said that both Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

It was before a certain part of the party started whining that he should apologize and shut up.

If anyone owes our troops in the fields an apology, it is the President and his failed team and a Republican majority in the Congress that has been willing to stamp -- rubber-stamp policies that have done injury to our troops and to their families.

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.

4. John Kerry should have NEVER apologized
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 12:03 PM by nadinbrzezinski
but the party forced him to, at least that is my view... for he said exactly that before he was forced to walk into that trap

By the way, for those not paying attetnion, they want to make Kerry the excuse as to why they retained congress, watch and learn, the slimebuckets are NOT done

8. Kerry should have said...
By no means would I speak against our soldiers. ...Then while he had the media’s attention, go into to how Bush/Cheney personally profit from wars and enviable bird flu epidemics. ..Then talk about PNAC.

We do have some platforms where Dems could speak freely. If the public knew about all the war profiteering going on, or how Rummy personally made $5 mil off of the bird flu. ...That kind of talk would have filtered down to the most uninformed person out there.

6. they are part of the same game--only interested in narrow self interest.
They are almost as odious as republicans in their refusal to fight. At least Kerry showed some fight. I am sick to death of these tutu weak back stabbers. You only need to look at who is supporting Lamont by campaigning for him to determine who is a real democrat.

7. Where did you get the idea Kerry didn't ALREADY DO THAT??
He apologized not once, but twice (once before anyone asked him to).

Syop listening to Rush. You'll be a better person for it. Trust me.

9. In case you haven't noticed
Kerry has been doing that in his comments about the joke. He has said the joke was botched and apologized for that but not for their criticism. Even democrats like Harold Ford who called for Kerry to apologize did so just a brief sentence and than talked about Iraq and how Bush should apologize for that.

12. Simple. We are a nation of consumers and not investigators.
Even our politicians consume what is fed to them from the media, and unfortunately the Republicans got the top spinning fast and furious. And rather than look at Kerry's comments directly, on their own...they took what was spoon fed.
