Iraq May Cost GOP Congress
The GOP once viewed the war as a political asset. Now, Republicans are hastily distancing themselves from President Bush as Democrats fiercely challenge the administration's policies amid signs that voters trust them more than the GOP on Iraq.

"Tell Congress it's long past time to put down their rubber stamp and ask the hard questions about Iraq," the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee says in a television ad that lays out the party's closing argument of why voters should fire Republicans now in power.

...

Still, days before Tuesday's election, the GOP faces the stark possibility of losing seats in the House and Senate -- and, perhaps, control of Congress -- as voters decide whether to send the president and his party a searing message about the conflict. It has cost upward of $350 billion and led to the deaths of more than 2,800 Americans in less than four years.

1. Iraq should cost them Congress and the presidency. It was a huge,
horrible mistake. And a mistake that we will be paying billions for in lots of years to come.

5. That Almost Makes It Lives and Treasure Well-Spent--Almost
If wresting Congress from the GOP, and making it work the way it's supposed to, averts a civil war at home and disbands and RICOs the GOP out of existence forever, then it's almost worth it to have suffered so much.

Almost, but not quite. I'm sure there were kinder, gentler, less deadly and destructive ways to restore the Constitution, justice, and the American economy and dreams.

On the other hand, the bad guys are quite distinguishable--there's no doubt in this conflict which side you are on. That makes round up and prosecution and punishment in the US so much easier than say, in Iraq!

6. It should cost them the right to participate in the political process
The Republican party should become extinct, disbanded and left to the history books. What they have enabled bu$h to do is a crime of treason and the party should pay a heavy toll for that deed.
