This is a good indication of why Dean's 50-state strategy has paid off |
|
This weekend, the final weekend before the election, George W. Bush is campaigning in Nebraska's third congressional district:
In 1992--Bill Clinton ran third in this district behind Bush I and Perot In 1996--Dole won this district over Clinton 59-29 In 2000--Bush II won 71% in this district. In 2004--Bush II won 75% in this district.
The GOP have held this seat for 48 years!! In 2004, Republican Tom Osborne won 87% of the vote against no opposition.
If this isn't a clue of how bad it is for the GOP in the House this year, I don't know what is. The Democratic candidate, Scott Kleeb is running six-points ahead of the gop nominee in one survey.
By actually contesting Republicans even in districts which seem lossed--Dr. Dean has made a real impact. Bush is going to use his time and GOP money here rather than some place else.

Anyone have an address for Dean so that I can send him a nice thank you gift?
If all plays out according to plan, I think that Dean will not only have helped the Democrats restore some sanity to Washington, but he will have laid the foundation for a robust Democratic party.
Dean put Conventional Wisdom on the ground next to him and proceeded to poop on it. Way to go!
