Kerry borrowed a page from Rove's book
I wrote about it when the story first broke, and at this stage I think it's worth repeating. It is now Thursday and the story is still very much front and center. Kerry knows from the swift-boat travesty what would happen.
The unpopular Iraq war is back front and center as well, and the "gaffe" enabled Kerry to label the president as being an uneducated and dumb.
Let them keep twisting his words. In doing so they remind everyone that we are still fighting and dying in W's war.

10. Fourth deadliest month of the invasion. Yes, let's keep Iraq in people's minds.
They have spin and stupid jokey insults for Senator Kerry.

Sane people have the needless loss of life of our soldiers in mind.

11. thanks.
I wasn't sure if it was 104 or 105.
At least, that's the number we are given.

13. Can't remember what types of deaths aren't included
in that official number. Suicides, I think... at least.

14. If I am not mistaken,
they don't include wounded soldiers who die on the way to, let's say, hospitals is Germany. I may be wrong on that.

they capitalized on it well.

3. I don't know if it was planned ( I doubt it)
but the net result was that American public hearing "stuck in Iraq" about 100 times over the last three days.

7. to some degree, yes
I think he certainly planned on going out on the trail a week before the elections and bring up Iraq in a controversial manner.

8. "The Law of Unintended Consequences"....
I think it was accidental, but in trying so darned hard to capitalize on it, I think the RW overreached and is experiencing backlash.

So, in that way, I do think we are seeing benefit from it...

9. I agree.
I doubt Kerry planned anything - but you know what, it doesn't matter.

Poves they really have nothing. Sucked the wind out of any attempted "miracle" they may have had in mind to tip this and kept the war front and center.

Intentionally or not, it is helpful to our candidates. At least 48 hours of news cycle time elapsed over this. We are winning, and I am fine with just taking a knee a few times and ending it.

And on the other hand - they were playing with fire over the Kerry joke - it could end up blowing up on them too.

Either way - we win.

Joe
