It's time to break authoritarianism, elitism, and aristocracy in America
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 05:20 PM by Heaven and Earth
330 years after we first exorcised those demons, its time to do it again. I'm very excited about reminding corporate aristocrats, their authoritarian politician lackeys, and the elitist press that We the People rule, not them. It's our opinions that matter, not what they think our opinions should be. "Sit down and Shut up" is not a governing philosophy. Being rich and having political influence does not entitle you to the fruits of the increased productivity of your fellow-citizens. In six days, the party that is more likely to learn these lessons will be back in power. Let's get ready to hold their feet to the fire.

1. Yes, and let's start with revamping our grossly unjust tax system.
I know that if the average American was aware of the way he is subsidizing tax breaks and perks for the ruling class, he would be up in arms. Most people are just not aware. It is outrageous.

2. Not aware, or feeling powerless, or just don't care.

3. That, plus "Clean Elections" laws for public financing.
It's "one person, one vote" not "one dollar, one vote". You should not be able to buy more rights to free speech, which is the logical conclusion of the argument that "money=speech".

5. I'd get rid of every single "perk"
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 05:32 PM by Taoschick
Enjoyed by congress and then I'd revamp the tax system. I used to think I had it bad as an employee but as a business owner, I'm sick and tired of being treated like a piggy bank by my city, county, state and federal government.

8. What about competitors with more political influence than you?
It seems like they'd be a major thorn in your side as well.

9. Right, but what I was really referring to was the perks for the ruling
class in general, the CEO's corporate jet rides, multi million dollar bonuses deferred tax-free into the future, tax shelters, etc.

After taking advantage of all these loopholes and more, they scream from the high-heavens to repeal the estate tax! And if W gets his way, they'll do it and the top 1% will effectively pay no tax at all.

6. Right
We need to stop this push toward making America like China by stealing our freedoms. The real enemy is corporate America. I could not find one decent radio station to listen to today, they were all bought out and play oldies or country. Monotony and mindlessness need to be shoved out the door.

7. Not all profits are created equal.
Profits made by taking bold risks to create products that make better lives for people are good. Profits made by pathetically clinging to past glory and fighting progess are pretty worthless as far as society as whole is concerned.
