I sent an e-mail to Wes Clark:
Dear Wes Clark,
I have always admired and respected you for your views and insight. I
thought it would be important for you to know about this story:
Boehner refuses to apologize for faulting generals
By Rick Maze
Staff writer
In the wake of Sen. John Kerry's belated apology for offending troops
deployed in Iraq, House Majority Leader Rep. John Boehner of Ohio is
being asked by Democrats to apologize for seemingly blaming senior
military officers for any problems with the Bush administration's
Iraq strategy.
Boehner, however, does not appear to be budging.
"Good try," he said when asked about demands for an apology.
In a Wednesday appearance on CNN, Boehner was asked for his view on
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and the U.S. policy in Iraq.
"There are a lot of people who want to blame what's happening in
Iraq on Donald Rumsfeld, but when you look at the transformation that
our military has been through, it's nothing short of remarkable,"
Boehner said. "The fact is, the generals on the ground are in
charge."

Harry Reid and Howard Dean have both condemned what Boehner said and
asked for an apology, mainstream media has subsequently buried this
reaction to promote the Republican agenda of focusing on Kerry's
botched joke, even after HIS apology. What will it take to end the
hypocrisy? I hope that you will read this story for what it is and
speak out against this very real insult against our troops. If you and
other generals who have spoken out in the past against Rumsfeld's
disastrous decisions can help draw attention to this, it will help
significantly in exposing this hypocrisy to the American people. Thank
you for considering this.
Sincerely,

Thank you for your email.I sent a similar e-mail in the hopes it would be forwarded to Anthony Zinni:
Dear Fred Williams,
I found your e-mail address at www.generalzinni.com and wanted to forward this story to you in the hope that you will pass this on to General Zinni. It concerns House Majority Leader John Boehner and his refusal to apologize for blaming the generals for the problems in Iraq:

Rumsfeld, Boehner said, has been pushing the military to transform, but the uniformed military leaders have resisted.
"You have to understand that the generals who have been in charge of the Pentagon have been very resistant to change," Boehner said. "It's the younger generals who understand this new force structure that we need to have for the military of the 21st century.

I am sending this story to you because I have admired General Zinni and his views on the war in Iraq, especially his speaking out against Rumsfeld's disastrous leadership. It's nice that Reid and Dean have asked for apologies, but I think it would carry more weight if General Zinni spoke out about this insult. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
robertpaulsenI received this response:
I will forward your email to General Zinni.
Fred WilliamsI think this is a good start. I encourage all of you to send e-mails encouraging them to speak out against Boehner and his hypocrisy. If you can think of the names of the other generals who asked Rumsfeld to resign, list their names on this thread so we can e-mail them as well.
