Poll question: OK, so what was the October surprise, anyway?
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 06:18 PM by Bucky
It came, it saw, but it never conquered. We know Rove had an October surprise; he always has an October surprise. But what the heck was it? I've narrowed it down to a couple of options. Your input is highly welcome.

The October Surprise is...

1. The surprise was doing nothing while discussions everywhere
centered on 'What's Rove's October surprise?"

5. That certainly seemed the plan from my perspective. . .
I can't imagine how many productive hours were wasted in mindless speculation about what Rove was going to do. Every event, every blip in a poll, every shadow was seen by someone as Rove's nefarious plot. Meanwhile, he was sitting at home in his underwear, eating hot dogs and sucking down brewskis, pleased as punch that, though he was probably going to lose in November, he had a passel of Democrats doing his dirty work for him.

2. Genome sequencing takes time... that's why he was distracted.

A focused Rove would have arranged VA Senator Allen to walk on water, just like his jewish ancestor; convinced the public that Harold Ford does NOT date white women because he prefers young white boys; and that Claire McCaskill is really a man.

Kudos to Rove for sequencing the honey bee, but this has been a bad year for him politically.

4. "...just like his jewish ancestor..." ? Have you been reading DaVinci Code again?
Allen is so totally not the descendant of Christ.

6. You underestimate Rove's power of suggestion.
He is sooooooo persuasive.

And cute as a button.

7. It will be whatever they say it is to explain the sudden shift at the
ballot box, fooling all the pollsters. They will invent a new demographic (they've already used the fundies, the soccer moms, the fundies, the security moms, the fundies, the immigrants, the fundies...)which their GOTV reached in umprecedented numbers in the last two weeks before the election, saving Santorum, Allen and Lieberman.

12. My hunch is
that the sights are set on Iran after the election -- the R's will either retain power or not yield to legal challenges put forth by the Dems.

13. Where is the option
for Rove to send Bush over to Iraq to make a speech on the conviction of Sadaam Hussein and orchestrate some calm city street scenes.
