10. I was just reading that. I love this line:
Ted Haggard, the head of the 30-million strong National Association of Evangelicals, jokes that the only disagreement between himself and the leader of the Western world is automotive: Mr. Bush drives a Ford pickup, whereas he prefers a Chevy.

7. Someone from his church called into Ed Schultz today, but the call
was lost/cut off before he could say anything. I was nearly home, and didn't hear if they reconnected with him.

8. Well, first of all Haggard's church of 14,000 members is in
Colorado Springs. Colorado's 5th Cong. District. This is an open seat this year but the 5th cong. district has more repugs registered than any other district in Colorado. That said, the Repug is leading in the polls but the WH is worried enough about the district that VP Cheney is scheduled to be there tomorrow (I think) to campaign.

Wonder if he will keep to his schedule as I feel certain he was scheduled to have breakfast, lunch or at least a prayer session with the man who is/was the head of 30 million evangelicals.

Also, as I commented in another thread Haggard has ties to Santorum and Boehner (as well as all of the other usual suspects including Senators Coburn and Brownback)and he talks to Bush every Monday.

running in the 5th district, Jay Fawcett. Methinks the tide just turned.

14. This really could mean that a Dem holds that seat for the first
time. I just called a close friend (former evangelical preacher) and asked him what the congregation's political response might be. He immediately said they will become completely comatose - they won't vote at all.

Right now the congregation is likely in denial - it will take a few days for them to own the truth about their beloved pastor but 14,000 members is a large voting block.

15. Cool, and I believe the dynamics are working in our favor on a couple of levels...
all good. The timing is exquisite.

Cheney was scheduled to meet with Haggard tomorrow? My, what would Church Lady say?

9. Here's hoping Doug Lamborn (CD5) is on the list
Jay Fawcett, a Fighting Dem and Air Force Academy graduate living in Colorado Springs, just received a huge gift.
