The Kerry "Flap" PROVES ROVE IS A FRIGGIN' MORON!! |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 07:31 PM by Beetwasher
Assuming of course Rove was behind the latching onto this flub of Kerry's as a hail mary pass, and I believe he was. This had all the hallmarks of a story that was pushed by at least someone LIKE Rove (and therefore I assume it was him) and I definitely believe that favors were probably called in and "incentives" used in order to make the story what it was. But in the end, it's a flop for numerous reasons, not the least of which is that the people pushing it have about as much credibility as a pack of crack whores (my apologies to crack whores).
In the end, we will be talking about Iraq in the final days to the election, and in the end the Dems are pulling away in most of the critical races and look to make substantial gains. The Kerry "thing" was a pathetic attempt and I hope once and for all, assuming we win on Tuesday, this will put to rest any fantasy's and fairly tales about "Karl Rove Sooper Jeenyus".
Karl Rove is an idiot. A hamfisted thug w/ low cunning, no ethics or morals to speak of and nothing more. I can only imagine what a competent fascist could have accomplished given what he was given. Now THAT'S a frightening thought. In the end, I think we're lucky to have Rove as an opponenent, and not someone w/ actual talent and real genius, because then we might really be in trouble. As it is, yes, he has caused much damage, and still can, but he's always been and always will be an overrated and porcinely inflated, psychotic hack.

3. He's not an idiot at all. Here is what he is: |
|
He is a man who's tactics don't work well in this public climate.
Sorry, but claiming that the principle architect behind an administration that has been in office twice without being legally elected, and successfully driven through some of the most sweeping and radical eviscerations of the constitution and particularly the bill of rights while assuring that the most pathetic and dysfunctional republican controlled congress stays in power for six years can not be called an "idiot" with a straight face.
The problem is, he is a one trick pony. That "trick" worked EXTREMELY well for a long time. But the climate of the country has changed, and now, the trick Rove knows is starting to consistently backfire on him.

I'm being a bit hyperbolic calling him an idiot (I admit it! It makes for better prose and post titles!), but he's no genius. A genius would never be a "one trick pony", almost by definition.

Just think of what someone competent could have done w/ 9/11.
Rove took 90% approval ratings and the pretty much the whole world in our corner and drove it into a ditch, dumped a ton of shit on it, doused it in gasoline, lit it on fire and then starting throwing everyone's grandmothers and children into the ensuing inferno.
Real jeenyus that Rove.

Without the complicity of the broadcast media, BushCo is unelectable. With their complicity, Diebold, unlimited campaign cash and the rest, he is barely electable.
Rove has been effective in the past because of complicity in the broadcast media, the RW spin machine and the access to obscene amounts of cash to use against his opponents.

was, as another poster pointed out in another thread and IMO, that I think it energized OUR base more than HIS base!
I hadn't even thought about how energized this whole episode made ME personally! Think about. I want rip their fucking hearts out (figuratively speaking!) after this. It has super motivated at least me, and I know I can't be alone in this, while accomplishing pretty much nothing else meaningful to achieving his (Rove's) goals.

15. Intimidation = Genius |
|
These pundits always marvel at Rove's "mystique"...no great secret...all they had to do was look at the career of an Al Capone or Joseph Goebells. When you can bully your critics into silence or get away with ridiculing them with lies and slander and not held accountable, anyone looks like a genius.
I wholeheartedly agree with you this wa a Rovian ploy and I posted on that from the outset. Kerry walked into a trap Rove had set up for some high profile national Democrat for use right at this time. The way the story got astroturfed so quickly and how the talking points were the same by every GOOP mouthpiece had the Rove machine all over it. Even the use of Drudge to break the story during the evening that somehow made it into the morning papers and onto hate radio...so that by noontime the story dominated the airwaves. A true example of how a rumor runs around the while while the truth is getting its pants on.
Hopefully enough people have now seen the brazen Rovian intimidation tactics and aren't fooled by it anymore. The 1984-speak is boomeranging and hopefully a major repudiation is on the way next Tuesday.
Cheers...

Over every single utterance, word for word, of every Dem on a daily basis, just looking for that one mis-spoken sentence to pounce on, and then Rove calls in every favor to push the non-story.
What a waste of effort and what a way to completely destroy any shred of credibility that may have been left. Pathetic really. But a real lesson (or case study) about the state of our disgusting, pathetic, corrupt, dysfunctional press (MSM).

Even in the mid-term elections, we can anticipate that there will be the "back-n-forth" that defines important struggles. We had to know that Karl Rove was going to try to make a move during this week. We should rejoice in the fact that it was a pretty damned lame thing that they are trying to focus on. At the very best, Bush and Cheney sound like middle-aged men trying to force listeners to relive a high school ball game. But, with the actual timing involved, most of the public will not be wringing their hands in concern with Kerry flubbing the delivery of a punch line. As the conservative former Marine who is working here said, "Kerry isn't a comic. But Bush is the one who is runing this country."
