What do you call all those posts you made while you shilled for Harris and you called people CRAZY, and Kerry LAZY, etc?

YOu weren't flaming people? Were they flaming you, forcing you to call them CRAZY?

I'm confused, but I want you to hear this show by Randi Rhodes and pass it along or refute it with FACTS please. No flaming here, just FACTS..

49. No some are in complete denial
http://www.gazette.com/display.php?id=1326038
<snip>“It’s fishy,” said the Rev. Steve Holt, senior pastor for 3,500-member Mountain Springs Church. “I think people should take note that this is five days before the election, and that Ted is a proponent of yes on Amendment 43 and no on Referendum I.”

James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, said the media were to blame.

“It is unconscionable that the legitimate news media would report a rumor like this based on nothing but one man’s accusation,” Dobson said.

“Ted Haggard is a friend of mine, and it appears someone is trying to damage his reputation as a way of influencing the outcome of Tuesday’s election — especially the vote on Colorado’s marriage protection amendment — which Ted strongly supports.”

The Rev. Donald Armstrong, rector of Grace Episcopal and St. Stephen’s Church, said he’s known Haggard for more than two decades and knows he’s not gay.
“I’ve known pastor Haggard for a long time,” he said. “That’s the last thing he’d succumb to.”

15. Jerry's nose is growing....

The Christian Right's Humble Servant
By Max Blumenthal, AlterNet. Posted November 15, 2004.

"...Congress' passage of a ban on late-term abortions in November, 2003 – again with centrist Democratic support – presented Bush with yet another opportunity to burnish his credentials with the religious right. As Bush signed the bill flanked by Christian right mandarins like Jerry Falwell, Lou Sheldon and Sen. Rick Santorum – an image seemingly calculated to rankle the 100 Planned Parenthood activists protesting outside the White House – cries of the ceremony's 400 attendees erupted in cries of "Amen!" Later that day, Bush celebrated privately with a virtual who's who of the religious right, including Falwell, radio host Janet Parshall, SBC leader Richard Land and National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) president Ted Haggard, who leads a 14,000 member church in Colorado Springs, Colo. Together, they joined hands and prayed."

16. Here is proof he knows him:
Jerry Falwell
06/3/2003

I later learned that Rev. Haggard, who was only recently elected to his position, was not fully aware of the serious charges that would be made. Having talked with him since the meeting, I am convinced of his sincerity when he declares the event was not intended to be a personal rebuke of anyone. In fact, Rev. Haggard advised Mark DeMoss, publicist for Franklin Graham, in writing that he personally agreed with Franklin's critical comments about Islam.

The 'Loving Rebuke'
Jerry Falwell
06/3/2003

Earlier this month, a group of religious figures gathered in Washington, D.C., in order to publicly condemn recent remarks on Islam and Mohammed by evangelical leaders, including me.

These leaders from the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) stated that they wished to "lovingly rebuke" those who have made controversial statements regarding Islam. In addition to me - while none of us were officially named - those targeted included evangelist Franklin Graham, CBN President Pat Robertson, Prison Fellowship Founder Chuck Colson and Dr. Jerry Vines, a past president of the Southern Baptist Convention and current pastor of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville.

The Rev. Ted Haggard, president of the NAE and pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, said at the meeting, "Since we are in a global community, no doubt about it, we must temper our speech and we must communicate primarily through actions."

51. Battle Cry Partners include: Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell & Tim Haggard
Battle Cry is a Christian fascist youth movement. It is led by politically powerful theocrats who prey on the fears, search for meaning, and moral dilemmas that are facing today's youth. They claim their religion and values are under attack, but it is Battle Cry - and the intolerant theocratic movement they are part of - that has declared war on everyone else! They are raising an army of youth to conquer the world and impose a theocracy where their hateful brand of Christian fundamentalism is made law.

FACT # 1: Battle Cry is connected to very powerful theocrats and leaders in the country.

Bush appointed BC founder, Ron Luce, to the White House Advisory Commission on Drug-Free Communities.

Battle Cry Partners include: Pat Robertson (who Karl Rove called to approve Alito before the nomination was announced), Tim Haggard (who brags that his concerns will be responded to by the White House within 24 hours), Jerry Falwell (who blamed September 11th on homosexuals, feminists, pagans, abortionists, etc.), and others.

Battle Cry speakers have included Barbara Bush (by video) and former President Jerry Ford.

64. Yep,
the minute I read that BS from Falwell about not knowing Haggard, I did a bit of googling and he sure as hell knows him.

Here is a little blurb written by Falwell about a conversation he had with Haggard:

I later learned that Rev. Haggard, who was only recently elected to his position, was not fully aware of the serious charges that would be made. Having talked with him since the meeting, I am convinced of his sincerity when he declares the event was not intended to be a personal rebuke of anyone. In fact, Rev. Some of you might remember that several years ago I published on the back of our newsletter a sketch of the process a baby goes through when a partial birth abortion is performed on it. I received a lot of criticism for publishing that sketch, but thought it was worth the pressure because of the horrific nature of this procedure being conducted throughout our nation.

Well, on Monday I was in the World Prayer Center and my cell phone rang. It was one of the special assistants to President Bush calling from the White House. It turns out that when the President was reviewing the list of those attending the signing of the partial birth abortion ban, he asked why I wasn't attending and asked that they call me. So the White House staff got onto the phones and were calling the NAE Washington office, our church office and my cell phone at the same time trying to see if I could come to the signing.

Of course I could. So I rearranged my schedule (thank you to those of you whose appointments got changed) and flew to Washington on Tuesday to be at the signing on Wednesday. I sat with those from the Senate and House who voted for the bill, and afterward was escorted to the President's motorcade and taken to the White House. I and seven others were able to spend 55 minutes with the President in the Oval office discussing any issue we liked. It was incredible. I'll tell you about the discussion in church.

Attending the private meeting with the President were Rev. Jerry Falwell from Liberty University, Janet Parshall, author and host of the nationally syndicated radio broadcast "Janet Parshall's America," Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) President Dr. Jack Graham, former SBC President Dr. Adrian Rogers, American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, National Religious Broadcasters President Frank Wright, and President of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission Dr. Richard Land.

Today I'm in Indianapolis. Most of you know that Pastor Scott Baur, the son-in-law of Dr. Jack Hayford and the the pastor of Church on the Way, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord a few days ago. Because of that, Pastor Jack had to cancel some engagements, so I'm covering for him by speaking to a group of ministers at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis today.

So my whole week is responding to last minute situations. I wonder what Sunday will be like . . .

Thank you for praying for me. I love being your pastor.

Pastor Ted

43. I think it is somehow a little shameful that we seem to be gloating over Haggard
I don't know if he is gay or not. All there is at this point is an accusation and Haggard resignation from the NAE. It does not look good to be sure and whatever the truth is I am fine with. I am not defending Haggard, but I don't have all the facts yet and neither does anyone else. Is he a hypocrite?.....time will tell...but for all I know, his accuser could be lying.

But......(and maybe it is just my own Christian mercy showing through here) I find no joy in seeing someone who may have led a double life being exposed. It seems somehow distasteful that so many on DU are gloating over it. If true it is devastating to lots of people. If he did do what the accuser says he did, then yeah he made his own bed and deserves whatever he gets. But his wife....his five kids..... and his flock are reeling right now. The fellowship could fall apart over this....I suspect the entire church staff could lose their jobs as people just walk away.

I just wish DUers were a little kinder, but then again thatis just me.

52. He is NOT a Christian
He was a carnival barker, a con man, a user, a liar, a denier of Christian values. He must hate his own family and fellowship to have behaved in this manner.

Falwell is gleefully throwing him under the bus in a vain attempt to climb to the top of the dung heap that the Evangelical movement is quickly becoming. There are few men of honor in positions of leadership that have not sold out their Christian ideals for political gain.

The pursuit of gold and power has blinded them to the teachings of Christ. Hypocrites.

It would have been better if you had wished that the oh so righteous Christian Evangelicals had been a little kinder. Perhaps then we might have been a little kinder to their plight when they fell from the oh so high pedestals they placed themselves on.

But that's just me.

Those fucking evangelical bastards have just about destroyed this country! They helped put in power and keep in power a regime that is hell bent on destroying the U.S. and most of it's people! They want the majority of us GONE-get it?! They have spent years and millions/billions of dollars demonizing the majority of us-liberals, progressives, intellectuals, gays, the poor, non christians-while they paint themselves pure as the driven snow and above everyone else! Meanwhile, behind closed doors they do the very things that they preach against!

Who gives a damn about those god damn hypocrites, liars, cheaters and thieves?! C'mon now! Excuse me, BUT, I will reserve my compassion for the truly downtrodden in this country! The people the GOP and it's supporters-the evangelicals-have mowed over and tried to annihilate! The homeless, The poor, The working poor, People who have no healthcare, Katrina victims who still don't have a home over a year later, Children who are getting a shoddy education due to lack of funds, The elderly who struggle against medicare, Gays who don't have equal civil rights! HELL NO-I don't feel sorry for and won't be kind to that piece of shit Haggard or any of his friends who happen to suddenly not know him!

HELL NO! :grr:

Snip

I later learned that Rev. Haggard, who was only recently elected to his position, was not fully aware of the serious charges that would be made. Having talked with him since the meeting, I am convinced of his sincerity when he declares the event was not intended to be a personal rebuke of anyone. In fact, Rev. Haggard advised Mark DeMoss, publicist for Franklin Graham, in writing that he personally agreed with Franklin's critical comments about Islam.

83. I found that too. I think what he means to say is, "This hateful bigot
thinks even I, Jerry Falwell, am too bigoted for his ministry." It appears Falwell is pissed the NAE started to distance themselves from all the hatred of Islam expressed by himself and Robertson. If this is true then I feel that having a fractured Christian right political faction will be an extra bonus for us in this election and the next few to come.

73. Haggard was on The Daily Show
http://nonprophet.typepad.com/nonprophet/2005/08/ted_haggard_on_.html

Stewart:

Robertson’s right wing allies in the media also found themselves in a tight spot. How to defend a man of God, calling for the killing of another human being? Well, there are three ways. First way; dismiss the message.

Pastor Ted Haggard:

I think you have to understand the context of it, you know his program has one segment of it that’s a Christian exhortation, and in another section where he’s a political pundit.

JS (jokingly speaking as if explaining TH’s statement):

See what you don’t understand is that Robertson didn’t make his comment during the time of day in which he’s a Christian. Uh, by the way, very understandable. Have you every tried to actually live your life by what this guy(points at a pic of Jesus) says? I mean. After an hour of so you need some me time.

74. This is probably why Jerry can't seem to recall his buddy Ted...
In May 2003, Ted publically chastised him and others for their anti-Islamic rhetoric.

Haggard debuted his kinder and gentler evangelicalism at a May 7 forum on Islam that was co-sponsored by the NAE, an organization that represents 51 denominations with 43,000 congregations and 250 para-church organizations.

While reaffirming evangelicals' belief in the uniqueness and supremacy of Christ, the forum broke new ground by calling on evangelical leaders like Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and Franklin Graham to tone down their inflammatory anti-Islam rhetoric.
