UGH! White House admits they are politicizing Saddam verdict.
White House Launches Campaign To Politicize Saddam Verdict Ahead of Midterm Elections

The verdict in the trial of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was recently postponed until November 5, two days before the U.S. midterm elections. Media Matters has questioned whether “the date for the verdict’s release set to provide maximum political benefit for the administration and congressional Republicans.”

Asked today whether the verdict would be a factor in the U.S. elections, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow said, “You are absolutely right, it will be a factor.” Snow said the verdict “may fit into a larger narrative about an Iraqi government that has been doing what the president has said all along.” He portrayed the decision as yet another turning point for Iraq. “This is a benchmark episode, where the Iraqi people are taking control of their own destiny,” he said.

2. "Iraqi government that has been doing what the president has said all along"
How do you say "puppet government" in Farsi?

3. How will the verdict help them?
A guilty verdict for Saddam will do nothing to avenge 9/11.
A guilty verdict for Saddam won't make us safer.
A guilty verdict for Saddam will have no effect on Bin Laden and/or Al Qaeda.
A guilty verdict for Saddam won't get our troops out of Iraq.
A guilty verdict for Saddam will put our troops in even more danger.
A guilty verdict for Saddam won't change the fact that BushCo lied their way into a war.
A guilty verdict for Saddam won't restore our Constitution or bring checks and balances back to our country.

What's there to politicize?

4. Oh, yeah, Tony!
Saddam's verdict is going to turn this whole thing around. THAT'S the key issue for 90% of voters.

How many times have you heard it: "Geez, if ONLY Saddam was found guilty, I would forget that I am out of work, have no health care coverage, my savings are gone, the economy sucks, the war in Iraq has made us less safe, my kids are getting a crappy education, the infrastructure is crumbling, the Republicans have lied repeatedly to me ..."

Watch out, fellow Dems - THIS is what's going to turn the tide for the GOP next Tuesday!!!

5. LOL! You nailed it!
They are grasping at straws. It's not as desperate as the "Hail NAMBLA" pass, but it's close.

8. Is there anyone - ANYONE - in the U.S. who doesn't think Saddam will be found guilty?
Are Mr. & Mrs. Joe Sixpack going to be high-fiving each other and saying "Whew! That was close!"?

The White House is getting really, really desperate.

11. It'll backfire...
The public has finally woke up (after their freakin' long slumber) and will see it as an attempt to manipulate their vote and that it's all just a game. This is as good as a Democratic October Surprise and only 2 days before the election!!! Woohoo!!!
