About that preacher named Haggard...
AFAIK, so far, it's just he said, he said.

So it is possible Haggard wasn't fooling around with that gay hooker.
I'd like to see more before I jump all over Haggard.

1. Why would he resign from his church and as head of the evangelical
organization, if it was just rumors?

I'm not saying anything is proved, but...

3. It seems to me that if the Jones guy was trying to extract money
(as some wingnuts have suggested) he sure as hell wouldn't have gone public. He's obviously either telling the truth or he's batshit nuts. I saw him on KO a few minutes ago, he didn't seem crazy.

4. Funny, I thought I heard several times on DU that there are
audio recordings of some hanky panky.

taking a lie detector test tomorrow morning.

10. Polygraphs are NOT "lie detectors."
They are nervousness detectors.

That's why they aren't allowed in criminal trials.

11. Yes, I understand that very well but this isn't about a criminal case.
One's willingness (or refusal) to submit to a polygraph examination is, however, fairly influential
to both the participants and the public. Inadmissibility in court doesn't mean they are without
value. In a way it's a bit like when the judge says "that will be stricken from the record and the
jury will ignore it." They generally don't.

8. Yes, if these guys would all resign after simply being accused, all
we'd have to do is have a few dozen people accuse all the Republican officeholders from Bush on down of having gay affairs with them. Problem solved.

9. His church claims that is 'standard practice' when situations like this arise.
Odd they have plans for it...

Being gay = not bad, maybe even cool
Cheating on wife = wrong
Using meth during sex = illegal
