"Wasn't what Kerry said GROSS?"
A woman I know asked me that today, a sneer curling her lip.

"What?" I said.

"What Kerry said. That DISGUSTING comment about OUR troops."

I looked at her for a second. I had heard about it, but I really haven't been following the news much lately (lately meaning the past year or two, LOL).

I said, "Disgusting?" She said "yeah."

I proceeded to tell her a little story about watching the Republican National Convention in the summer of 2004. I told her about seeing people at that convention with these band-aids with little purple heart stickers on them and how they were laughing and gleeful and snorted that they "shaved themselves this morning and decided to give themselves a Purple Heart!" I watched a woman laughing her ass off about her "Purple Heart" bandaid. And I looked at my husband, who has two of those silly things, and how we both felt sad and enraged all at once. How we'll never forget that, as long as we live.

I thought about my father-in-law, who received almost exactly the same medals Kerry did in the Vietnam war and I wondered how he felt, watching the medals he earned by leaving parts of him behind being mocked on TV, mocked by the president's political party.

Then I told her about the time bush met with some seriously wounded soldiers, just back from Iraq. Some were burned over most of their bodies. Some had missing limbs. He recounted a story of how HE was "wounded" while clearing some brush and made a joke about the scratch on his arm. I told her how incredibly insensitive I thought that was, how if I had been there and heard it in person I wouldn't have been able to stop myself from gasping in horror at such a comment. Heh, heh, heh, indeed.

I looked at her and said "I've got plenty more examples, if you'd like to hear them" and she said no, and changed the subject.

Fuck their fake indignation over nothing. They're so desperate.

3. That's how we ALL need to start treating their bully talk. They don't even
hear themselves anymore, bullying has become so much a part of who they are the past 10 years.

4. This is what I'm saying when a sneering woman gets in my face
John Kerry botched a joke. George W. Bush botched a war.

10. LOL.
Yes, that would have been much faster. But I wanted the emotional punch of it, and we had plenty of time. Plus those things I described? THEY are disgusting. Botching a joke? Doesn't even fit that description.

11. I got into it with a guy at work today. I reminded him of the time Bush
was at a fund raiser with his base, the top 1% wage earners. I told him how President Chucklenuts (dressed in a black tux) made fun of the troops in Iraq. Nope, no WMDS under here...

12. Well done Bouncy Ball.
These fucking idoits that take offense to Kerry's bumbled joke, need to have examples like the ones you mentioned brought up in their faces. If they really are offended about people disrespecting the troops, then why don't they start by pulling those damn "Support the Troops" yellow ribbons off their gas guzzling SUV's.

"I'm stupid". These people are so sad. They buy what the corporate media says, hook, line and sinker. I didn't get to hear Kerry's exact speech till much later, but I knew enough to not believe the media and Bush on it. Geez.

This is same as the "Al Gore said he invented the internet" lie. Ugh.

15. What's disgusting. from my viewpoint ...
What's disgusting is almost 3,000 dead soldiers and hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis because that woman, without 2 brain cells to rub together, can vote.

What's disgusting is that woman, without even knowing the facts, sucks down the kool-aid and never questions her talking points marching orders from the GOP.

What's disgusting is people like her are the reason America is circling the drain.

Great job, Bouncy Ball.

18. I remember those purple bandaids....
it was terrible. I was ashamed for them. People wanting to measure war wounds to make sure they were deep enough or long enough to have been awarded these medals. And, *we* were called UnAmerican.

Everything the Right Wing says about the left is actually true about themselves --- and I think that's why they started with this "Liberal Media" crap years and years ago - because they were building the Republican Media Machine the whole while. They are everything they claim others are.

21. this reaction
from Boosh supporters...plugs them into an instant "swiftboat replay" --so they can have a little flashback to those glorious days when John Kerry was getting beat up beyond recognition and their toxic wave was cresting. And that makes them feel good. It's all about saving face while the Hindenburg deflates.

Yay team. Rah....rah.
