1 in 10 Americans belong to this organization?
The "National Association of Evangelicals"?

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=2625039

The Rev. Ted Haggard resigned as president of the 30 million-member association Thursday after being accused of paying the man for monthly trysts over the past three years.

If that is true then I can see that yes it would be a great opportunity to network

One of the most pivotal roles that the NAE can play in your organization is that of tremendous networking potential.

That sounds unbelieveably high to me. 1 in 10.

1. Shouldn't this depress the evangelicals - enough so that they don't bother...
...to vote on Tuesday?

8. I read a poll yesterday
It was shocking to read but among evangelicals republican lead is only 1%. It was 47R - 46D or something like that. Imagine how many republican heads will explode when they see evangelicals splitting their vote this year

2. I wonder how many people live in non-coastal states. Maybe it's
half of that number. Don't forget that they're counting their kiddies, too.

3. It could be that if you attend one of the associated churches,
you're automatically a member. That I could believe.

6. As noted above the must also be counting all the little Christian Soldiers
and I would be willing to bet that they are the umbrella organization of lots of other such organizations so you have so duplicity in counting.

4. Classic member-inflation
Wanna bet "membership" here is defined as "on their mailing list" or "member of a church that subscribes to our newsletter", or something equally thin?

5. You don't belong? It's a DU requirement!
The amazing thing is that if you hadn't mentioned it I would have likely
looked at that 30 million number in my a.m. trance and not considered
what utter horse shit it is. Thanks for pointing out an obvious lie.
If someone has stats to prove that it's true I still have to call it a lie
because I need to be able to sleep at night.

7. It's why the establishment clause of the constitution
is so important and needs protection. It's not that I'm against evangelicals because I don't think they all think the same. It's about numbers and influence.

9. Not at all. There are about 75 million Roman Catholics here (1 in 4)
and they're much more "organized" than the evangelicals. Both organizations are HUGE sources of funds for spreading lies and hatred. O8)

10. Scary is what it is.............
that 1 in 10 is a raving lunatic that thinks they're going to be "raptured" and live in the clouds with Jesus forever and ever. :scared:
I hope this gives pause to some of these people, that they actually begin to THINK instead of merely BELIEVING.
Another great evanhellical role model drawn into the depth of Satan's depravity. His flock of sheep will all forgive him though because he's a man of god who made a mistake. :eyes: But the REST of you queers...........you're going straight to hell! :sarcasm:

11. The NAE is made up largely of Denominations not individuals.
Edited on Fri Nov-03-06 08:21 AM by Perky
So if you are congregant in any of the denomiantions lisete on the website... you rar considered a member. That is how they get to 30 Million.

Interestingly neither the RCC or the SBC are members.
