Watch For Keith Olbermann To Move To CNBC On December 4.
That's the day the "New" CNBC begins, and if the rumors are true, NBC plans to turn MSNBC into some sort of a 24-hour Investigative Reports station, and move their more "high powered players," over to CNBC.

My prediction, Softball with Tweety moves over, as does Keith. Not sure about Joe, Fucker, Whora, or any of the other SHILLS at CNBC, but Keith & Tweety are certain to be in the new lineup.

During the day will still be the market stuff, and Mad Money will still be in the afternoon, but then they'll switch over to "news."

7. I dunno
The rumor is that NBC wants it there so they can use it for breaking news, but that doesn't really make any sense to me. If the news is important enough then it will be on the NBC broadcast channel. Who's going to flock to a mothballed "news" channel during any sort of crisis?

14. It's just garbage...
If they wanted to do real investigative reports they would investigate where all the money is disapearing to in Iraq, where thousands of weapons have gone, and the hundreds of other crimes this Pres and his thugs have put upon our nation!!!

18. I don't know about the morons who watch it
but the damn ratings went up for those damn canned shows.

I personally don't see what NBC sees in Dan Abrams - this is a dumb time to move just when MSNBC is gathering steam. With the Dems probably taking one or both houses 07 will be hot politically as Dems investigate and spar with this lame-duck president. Iraq and possibly Iran and N. Korea will play in to the debate. Late summer/early fall the '08 race for the president will be hot, hot, hot for both Dems and Repukes. Stupid time to do a rebranding. Hell with Faux slipping there's a shot Olbermann could draw very close in key demo viewers to O' Lielly

MSNBC Catching Up To CNN In Prime Demo
The gap between CNN and MSNBC has been tightening lately, ahead of the midterm elections. Here's a look at the weekly ratings for the last six weeks:

22. Remember "Time and Again"?
I'll say this for MSNBC. It gets it's money's worth out of those shows.

I think they've realized that they can't compete against Fox and CNN after "Countdown," so why try?

8. CNBC is being relaunched as a competitor to Fox Business Channel and
CBS Marketwatch. So I don't see anyone moving from MSNBC.

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117953148.html?categoryid=14&cs=1

With ratings on the upswing, Immelt said he feels the network is better positioned to take on Roger Ailes' planned entry into business news, Fox Business Channel, than it was last year.

"I think we're ready for Fox if they decide to come," he said. "And if it happens, you have to have the attitude of 'bring it on.' "

The net is investing heavily in the new CNBC.com, which is being re-launched in December as a competitor to CBS' MarketWatch and other financial news sites.

10. This Article Does Not Mention Changes
It concentrates on the internet site, and does not go into the changes in store at the "New" CNBC.

I stand by my prediction until I hear otherwise.

15. EXACTLY!!
And one of the changes to position itself as competitive with *'s business channel, is to move their heavy hitters, like Keith & Tweety, to the lineup, to strengthen the late afternoon/early evening period, which is where CNBC's viewership drops off significantly.

16. How would that take away viewers from a FINANCIAL channel?
If I'm looking for financial information, I'm not watching Hardball or Countdown.

17. Don't Want To Argue With You...
Trust me, it will happen. Their plan is to combine their strengths. The CNBC lineup late in the day is weak, and consists of Deal Or No Deal repeats.

By transfering some MSNBC shows, they will be stronger against f-x business channel.

Anyways, I'm not going to convince you, so I'll let it go. But I have no doubt that it will happen. And seeing the commercials for the "NEW CNBC" confirms it for me. They intend to make significant changes, and that involves exactly what I mentioned.

NBC Staffers Fear Cuts Are Coming
By Jim Benson, Ben Grossman and John M. Higgins -- Broadcasting & Cable, 10/19/2006 1:07:00 AM

NBC Universal employees are bracing for the worst as Chairman-CEO Bob Wright and NBC U TV Group CEO Jeff Zucker are convening town hall meetings in Los Angeles and New York for what is expected to be news of restructuring and job cuts.

Sources say Wright will appear on the Universal Studios lot near Burbank on Thursday while Zucker holds a similar meeting with East Coast employee in New York. NBC press reps were not available at press time.

The sessions follow weeks of smaller job cuts at NBC's syndication unit, for example, and rumors of much wider layoffs and other belt-tightening measures. While the expensive acquisition of NFL football games on Sunday night is driving NBC's average primetime ratings up this season, the network is suffering crucial misfires.

Further analysts believe footballs high license fees mean the company is losing money on the games, so the ratings boost is probably not raising profits.

On the cable side, NBC U has been considering drastic measures, including scrapping all of MSNBC's live programming and switching to a taped, magazine-like format, while switching successful personalities Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann over to sibling CNBC's primetime slate.
