Why do conservatives care more about what people say rather than what they do?
Haggard, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Bennett, Bush, Cheney, Swaggart, Baker on and on. Talk and talk about responsibility, morals, fighting enemies, sacrifice and forgiveness, yet rarely, if ever show any of these qualities themselves. And those who support them defend them like crazy when their hypocrisy is so blatant.

And Kerry, sure he screwed up a line, and a stupid one at that, but he obviously wouldn't call the troops stupid, they jump all over him for days and days, when his votes for veterans and the troops are positive. Equate Cleland with Bin Laden, say an Iraq veteran amputee is for 'cut and run', sheesh.

It's the hypocrisy, stupid.

It's like black is white. I just don't freakin' get it.

My father, an ordained minister has said, that I am, his agnostic son, more moral than many of these holier than thou christians he knows, and more honest than probably all of them.

Sometimes I think the whole freakin' country is in denial and too blinded by self righteous arrogance to see that they are fucking the world up for my kids and their kids.

(well, re-reading that, it reads like an incoherent rant, but I hit post message anyway in the hopes someone can decipher it) :D

1. For the sake of diversion
Don't forget to look behind the curtain when you make it to Oz. I always get a chill when I hear about some drummed up, empty news story because I know this is a just smokescreen for something worse they are doing and don't want us to know.

2. An interesting question. A thought.
Someone (Noam Chomsky?) called it willful ignorance. And it's the m.o. of the neo-cons and so-called Christian conservatives. They're happy to get juiced up on rhetoric -- maybe even believing it -- but it seems to me they're just not willing to look beyond the surface. I think that's too hard, too much effort, and probably most imporantly: they just don't want to know.

It's all part of this insane cycle America is in. Denial, hypocrisy, mindlessly following people who tap into their guts rather than their minds. I think this cycle will end, but I don't think those people will go away. It's mass hysteria, really.

3. I think they only really care about what people are
I.E. Conservative or Liberal. There is very little a Conservative can do wrong and absolutely nothing a Liberal can do (short of becoming Conservative (i.e. Zell Millar and Joe Lieberman) right.

4. They KNEW Hacking Democracy was coming out and had to quickly demonize Kerry
the same way they had to demonize Clinton so they created the Trashed the White House story.
