Texas RW fails to disclose their candidates DEATH in campaign mailings
Edited on Fri Nov-03-06 01:49 PM by troublemaker
This is too good. The candidate died a while back but they are pretending she's alive and sending out literature about her positions. The best part... she's still making campaign calls!

http://www.wonkette.com/politics/texas/dead-candidates-keep-their-mouths-shut-212280.php

The only secret the Glenda Dawson campaign is keeping is that she’s dead.

Dawson, a Republican state representative in Texas, died in September. Aware of how little a state legislator actually does, the campaign has continued as planned. New mailers went out this week showing a living Dawson with Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. And if we’re understanding this article, Dawson is making campaign phone calls from beyond the grave.

4. Why not? The dead vote!
It's a great Texas tradition for the dead to vote. Now they have a candidate of their own!

24. Voting the dead is an old Texas tradition. Running the dead is rather
new, unless you count dimson.

6. She's The Only Repub They Can Find Not Currently Under Indictment
or investigation. Pretty soon the GOP will have to resort to grave robbing all over the country to get untainted candidates, it'll be the new strategy.

7. That's what's special about Texas
Some states just have dead voters. We go the extra mile down here and have dead candidates!

21. You need to amend that statement, Texlawyer...
Deceased Texas DEM's vote, deceased GOP candidate campaign. And frankly, I've been to GOP funraisers and it really IS hard to tell the living candidates from the dead...it's an honest mistake.

8. Advantages/Disadvantages of running a Dead Candidate.....
Advantages: She will not slip up and say anything embarrassing or inconsistent. She is not available for interviews. They have pictures which get her best side. People need to understand this is not about the candidate, but rather about the issues. She will not be cashing any of her government paychecks.

Disadvantages: She will not be available for a victory speech. She will have extreme difficulty placing her left hand on the Bible, raising her right hand, and saying "I do" at her swearing in ceremony. She will not be able to fill out her reelection campaign filing, so she is stuck being a one termer.

If this works, the Republicans may consider running more 'dead' candidates in the future!

11. Here's an Opposing Campaign Ad ....
"Hello I am running for state legislature against Republican Glenda Dawson. There is only one thing you need to remember when you go to the polls next Tuesday: Even though the Republican Party continues to distribute my opponent's campaign material throughout this district, just remember this:(pulls out copy of death certificate and shows it to the camera) SHE IS DEAD. SHE HAS BEEN DEAD SINCE SEPTEMBER. But hey, the Republican Party did not think you would notice.

Vote for a candidate who will speak for you in the Legislature. Don't vote for a DEAD CANDIDATE who can't speak at all.
Thank you for your vote.

23. Just in time for the movie's November release.....
"Republican's Weekend At Glenda's". You'll laugh. You'll cry. You won't believe your eyes when you see the antics Rove and Rummy are up to. Watch as two Republicans realize that one of their candidates have died and they have no replacement. See their determination not to let a littler thing like death deter them. Watch the hilarity that ensues.

This movie not yet rated.
