KQKE The Quake - SF Bay Area Progressive Radio Station - Changes
Damn them. I'm THRILLED that they're putting Mike back on, I'm THRILLED that they're replacing Franken with Hartmann, but goddammit they're CUTTING an hour from Randi's show!!!

WTF?????? I was just barely getting used to her being on 3 instead of 4 hours!!

And why not make room for Sam Seder?? I'd rather hear Sam than that Lionel guy. And I could live with just one hour of Ed instead of 3!!

What I'd really like is to hear Randi live, in the morning. I can't stand being in a several-hour-news-delay, and now it's just going to be worse with her on in the evening. ::sigh::

Here's the new lineup, starting Monday Nov 6th:

6AM - 9AM Stephanie Miller
9AM - 12N Thom Hartmann
12N - 3PM Ed Schultz
3PM - 5PM Rachel Maddow
5PM - 6PM Progressive News Hour
6PM - 9PM Mike Malloy
9PM - 11PM Randi Rhodes
11PM - 12AM Eco Talk w/ Betsy Rosenberg
12AM - 3AM Lionel
3AM - 6AM Bill Press

1. yup, I feel your pain
I have no idea what they're thinking to schedule Randi from 9-11. I'd much rather listen to Randi than Rachel (even tho I like Rachel) and the Progressive News Hour sucks. I find it boring as hell. For that matter, get rid of Schultz and put Randi in there live.

2. Definitely. Put Randi on LIVE, noon-3pm (that's her live slot right?)
That is the time when I listen most anyway, and I can't STAND not hearing live radio, especially when there's breaking news, and I have to wait hours to hear commentary about it.

4. Except for Randi, their entire schedule IS live.
Don't get me wrong. I'd rather have Randi live than Ed Schultz on any time, but at least you have Randi!

9. Good point! They should go all the way to FULL live schedule
It's the missing piece of the puzzle, having a complete full live lineup.

Bye Ed, we'll miss you. Sort of.

8. Please, everyone in the SF area
who supports Randi, email Bob Agnew and let him know you are unhappy with his effective shitcanning of The Goddess!!

Rachel Maddow can't even hold her own against that wussbag Tucker Carlson. She can't hold a candle to Randi. I'm betting the rationale behind this egregious usurping of Randi's prime time spot is "She's Gay! She's From SF!" Being gay and from the San Francisco Area does not automatically elevate her to anywhere near Randi's expertise, knowledge, and talent.

Rachel is just a relatively inexperienced babe in the woods, compared to Randi, Thom, Mike, and Stephanie. Rachel deserves maybe a couple of hours on Saturday, maybe. Or how about that highly desirable 9PM - 11PM dungeon that they've consigned Randi to?

Randi fans, speak up NOW!!!!!

5. The big story is the lack of Franken.
This is the first Clear Channel "Progressive Talk" affiliate to drop Franken completely in favor of Thom Hartmann. It looks like the affiliates are distancing themselves from Air America's content, in favor of shows from different syndicators.

As for Randi, it is bizzare that she is on after Mike, on a 9 hour delay (!); perhaps she didn't get good ratings in the afternoon? At the very least, you'd think they'd air her last hour instead of EcoTalk.

I guess it's two steps forward, and one step backward.

6. Well it's certainly prudent for them to not have all eggs
in one basket. This is actually good, it shows diversification of the progressive radio market, opens doors for other progressive content.

The Randi thing is really bugging me though. Afternoons just won't be the same.

I might have to start using my computer to stream the show.

KQKE, you hear that???

7. I remember the Quake in the mid-80s -- used to be alternative.
God I loved that station when I was in college...
